Hi all. I'm using my Brailliant BI20X to read a book in the apple books app and every time i stop reading and then come back, I am taken back to a previous point in my book. Not just a couple of sentences either, more like a couple of paragraphs. I'm running ios 17.1.1. Haven't tried on my iPad so don't know if the issue is the same. Anyone else seeing this?

Once upone a time, I could ask Siri to speak screen on a book in Apple, and it would read the whole book, no questions asked. I could turn off the screen, close the lid on my iPad case and sitmply listen. Last I checked, this no longer worked. Has the issue been fixed?
Forced me to go exclusively to Kindle
My Apple Books app on both iPad and iPhone won’t allow me to highlight anything anymore and it’s been going on for some time. So I finally started buying all the same books on the Kindle app. Never had any problems with Kindle. My devices are not old, iPad Air 4 and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Has anyone reported these bugs
Okay, so I might be teaching your grandma to suck eggs, but has anybody bothered to tell Apple about these issues? I haven't as yet as I wanted to make sure that it wasn't just me, and I'm still not convinced that that has been confirmed here, but what has happened is people have come on with various bugs of their own And have switched to a different reading app. I use Kindle extensively and almost exclusively, but it's swings and roundabouts isn't it? I mean, you have to go onto the Amazon website to buy books from Kindle, whereas you just go straight into the Apple books app and it's there, no messing about. I do think we ought to be reporting these things if we want them to be fixed. If we don't tell them, then how can they possibly know.

Amazon doesn’t offer books directly from the app because Apple takes a big wet bite of their profits if they do just because I use an iPad and iPhone. I do like a lot of thing about the whole Apple ecosystem. Since you use Kindle “extensively and almost exclusively” you must know the app works pretty much flawlessly with many useful features. I appreciate that and its features are so good that I even buy classic books and collections for a low price instead of free since they are in the public domain. After trying many apps and formats for books and literature I’m exclusively a Kindle user and don’t need to report issues with apps I don’t use.
Many years ago Amazon really zoomed ahead with books which Amazon kind of built everything from in the beginning. They didn’t stay static. This is not lost on me. I have actively contacted them about my low vision issues and they jumped on my suggestions with the new font at that time Amazon Ember Bold, an exclusive. I even used Audible but with BARD where I qualify for any book in the National Library of Congress at zero charge I just don’t need an extra service for audiobooks. Otherwise I’d sign up for their top services there too.
So that’s my story and why I don’t need to report issues in other apps I no longer use.
But what about those who do?
I am pretty much always a Kindle user as well, but my sister-in-law, who isn't that confident, likes the fact that she can use Apple Books and buy directly from there without having to mess about with websites. We may not use the apps, but as a community though, we have power in our numbers, therefore, whether we use the apps or not, I am of the belief that we should possibly take a little time out of our day to help those that do. I certainly will, because while I might not use it, somebody else might. Each to their own however.
