Hi AppleVis community
Siri voices keep disappearing from my iPad and iPhone running the latest iOS and iPadOS. I download the voices again then a day or two they disappear. Any idea what could be triggering this and what could be a solution?
Thanks

I have the same issue
Hi. This is no help, but I have the same issue. Started with Ios17.1. I can only think it is a bug which will be fixed shortly. I am wondering if downloading the voice in Siri setings rather than in Voiceover will make a difference and I will try and do this in the next day or two when I am on a better connection.
same
This used to happen for me on the watch, but that seems to have been fixed now, but this keeps happening on the phone. I've had to redownload the voice at least twice, if not three times.
Known bug
Hi!
This is a known bug and Apple is aware of it.
However, feel free to send Apple a bug report.
I've found that if I use the same voice with VoiceOver as well as with SIRI itself the voice won't be auto-deleted.
I'm wondering if the bug…
I'm wondering if the bug occurs due to the phone attempting to mirror the watch in terms of voice/speech settings, or vice versa. My hypothesis would naturally be disproved if someone without a watch experiences this bug.
TO: SplendidFault
Sadly, I will have to disprove your theory. Mine worked fine up until I upgraded to iOS 17.1. IT was at that point that all of my voices I had downloaded vanished. I tried downloading them again last night, and they are all gone as of a few minutes ago. I had five voices downloaded. As you can imagine, I am not happy with all of the wasted data downloading them only to have them vanish.

Agree with him.
No watch
I do not have a watch.
My only iDevice is my iPhone and I am really tired of re-downloading SIRI voices.
In fact I have stopped using SIRI voices for now except for my system language.
If one set up VO and SIRI itself to speak with the same voice that voice won't auto-delete - all other SIRI voices auto-deletes.
Siri Voices also disappearing on Apple Watch series9
Hi, My Siri voices disappear on my shiny new Apple watch after I updated it to Watch OS 10.1. Apple are aware of the disappearing voices issues as this seems to be a cross device problem.
Kind regards
Alright. It appears that…
Alright. It appears that voices are automatically deleted on phones and watches. I'm curious if anyone is encountering this issue on their Macs.
Perhaps this has something to do with iCloud data...
Don't know if this is plausible but has anyone tried logging out of iCloud? I just tried it once and at least the voices downloaded up to that time stopped getting auto-deleted. I've kept losing voices downloaded later though.
Regarding Macs
Yes. This happens with Sonoma 14.x. Siri voices are just shy though.
Honest.
iOS 17.2 and macOS 14.2
Just a heads up, I was having the same issue on iOS and macOS, but haven't had it happen ever since I've upgraded to the 17.2 and 14.2 betas, so hopefully this is a squashed bug!
For me.
For me, the Siri voices only auto delete when I am charging my phone.
@Matt92Machine
To back my hypothesis, data transfer to and from iCloud occurs while your device is charging, locked and connected to Wi-Fi. Is that the case?
Reply to last post.
That could be the issue. I know the voices only delete while my phone is on charge. I don't charge overnight either, I charge my phone on my desk while I'm working. Maybe a sync issue with iCloud? If the solution is logging out of iCloud, that's not a good solution. Apple needs to fix the problem.
I had the same issue with activities
Back when I had two devices linked to my account, the voice settings for the activities kept being reset as I would set the voice to Eloquence and one of the devices was too old to be updated to iOS 16 so it didn't have Eloquence. I reported that to Apple so long ago and one of these two devices even became totally useless but the problem is still present. I logged out of iCloud on the old iPhone 6S and activities began working properly, but downloaded voices still keep committing suicide so the underlying problem remains.
Update.
I just did a manual back up to iCloud to see if the voices would delete themselves again, and nothing happened. So I'm thinking it's not related to iCloud.
It should arise from a failure; not a successful backup/sync.
Logging out of iCloud and back in already enables you to stop syncing your data and restart it.
Apple is Aware of the Issue
Fingers crossed! Apple is aware of the issue, and we need to wait for future releases to get things fixed. Hopefully it won’t take long.
Just hope so...
I've reported several other bugs myself and most have been present for years.
update on iOS 17.2 and macOS 14.2 beta
looks like I jumped the gun, am on iOS 14.2. public beta 2 and macOS 14.2 public beta 2 and the exact issue reoccured early this morning, so 14.2 isn't fixing it. One observation I've had is that it seems to happen on all my devices within a couple hours of one another, which leads me to believe it is some form of server issue. ex: a flag being set indicating that the local copy of the voice is out of sync with the latest version available on apples servers.
Apple should pay for my data
I am losing data on this, I have to redownload the voices each time and I waste my cellular data.
