Rebooting My iPod

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation. I'm having difficulty using my Braille Sense Plus as a display with it, even though I've done so before. I'd like to reboot my iPod. I've tried holding the home button and power button down at the same time for 30 seconds, but the iPod is not rebooting. I don't want to lose my settings. I've tried holding just the power button down as well, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can accomplish this? Thanks!

You shoudl be able to hold down the power button until it says slide to power off, then double tap that area. Wait about 30 seconds then hold down the power button for about 7 ot 8 seconds and wait for the ipod to come on. Tc and be blessed.
Hi Marrie. Sorry for not spelling your name correctly in my last post. I was able to power off the iPod. All along, I've been pushing the volume button instead of the power button. I didn't realize the unit had four physical buttons (home, power, and volume up and down. I always thought there were just two. I eventually figured it out by reading the iPod's manual via iTunes. Thanks so much for your help on this one!! Dave
