Tip on adjusting numerical slide fields like volume or rate

This is a tip on how to make small adjustments in the slide fields used four settings like music volume, VoiceOver speaking rate etc.
A friend didn't know about this and so I wondered if perhaps others didn't too. Apologies if you already knew about this.
When your VoiceOver focus is on a numerical slide field such as VoiceOver speaking rate, flicking up and down will change the value by 10% but if you want to adjust that setting by a smaller value, you can do this by tapping and holding your finger on the screen and then slowly sliding up or down to change it by 2%.
In some fields it may adjust by 1% but in either case it will be less than the regular 10% adjustment.
This can be useful for setting things like the VoiceOver speaking rate to get it to the right value for you.
Hope this has been of some use to some of you.

Thanks, LBM, for sharing this. I did not know that. Good information.

Thanks, I've always had trouble setting Eloquence to my preferred rate and can I do this from the rotor without going into VoiceOver settings?

Doing it from the rotor may even be easier since the increments seem to go by five, rather than ten in the settings.

Thanks LBM, I think this is a very good way to do things.
Unfortunately, I personally can't do it very well, especially when adjusting music volume. Does anybody maybe know yet another way to fine-tune volume in smaller steps compared to the buttons?
Maybe I'm just missing an old-fashioned volume knob (no complaints, this is just me being insane and just a bit over-sensitive).
Thanks!

I not only asked a question but also did provide an explanation below the title. Perhaps I should've said, are we supposed to swipe up and down or right and left?

Thanks for sharing. I don’t think many people know this. I discovered it myself by accident the other day. I thought I’d try it, and it worked.
