Hello AppleVis members, I've been thinking about creating an airline simulation game on a website. I know this should be an app, but I need to get a Mac, and need to do a lot more before I can even think of creating an app. So before I create this game on a website, here is what I'm thinking for the game. 1. Pick a city, buy your first plain, and creat your first flight path. 2. As you get more money, expand your fleet. 3. Multiplayer features where every airline competes against each other. So, who is interested, and if so, any ideas appreciated.

This would be nice. Pleas…
This would be nice. Pleas make an app when you can make it work with voiceover pleaease.
I would love that type of…
I would love that type of game.
Going to create it
Okay, I'm going to create it. I will be creating it on a website first until I get a new mac and can create the app, but don't worry, the website will be accessible with Voiceover. I will keep you all updated.
This would be amazing
I'd defenetly play this.
A million times yes
Always have had an interest in aviation, so this would be fun
I would like to post about this
I would like to post about this on my blog if that is OK.
I would be definitely onboard
Well, something like an accessible Airline simulator is exactly that, what our community is currently lacking.
Since an amount of time, I'm dealing with the aviation topic in general. Be it sinple airline reviews, or researching about any kind of aircrafts which are available on the market.
My little suggestion, how this sim could potentially could look like: You start with a limited amount of money. The money to found the airline was just enough to purchase or to lease a little airplane like the Dash Q400.
It would be the best to start at a regional airport until you saved some money to expand your airline to a larger one. The more money you earns, the better planes you can buy.
The end goal should be to expand so much, to be like Singapore Airlines or Emirates and to offer flights with planes like the A380.
I am on board.
Love this. Bring it on!!!☺️
Yay.
If this can be done I would love it. Will be a lot of work but sounds great.
Great idea, I would love it.
Great idea, I would love it.
Starting planning
Starting the planning stages, I'm going to build a web version until I save up enough money for a mac and can create an app version. There will be a single player mode, and a multy player mode. Single player will be out first. Any ideas and suggestions appreciated.
Assistance on aircraft
So, I'm starting the planning, and I have some questions. What aircraft would you all like to see? And does anyone know of any good resources on aircraft seating, cost, maintenance? I want to make it as realistic as possible.
Eurofly
Hi, you should try first Eurofly, an accessible flying game for windows. It is awesome and could give you an example of all the facts that your game should have in order to be a real simulator.
Regards.
Airports and sims
This sounds like a fun project. Railroad Tycoon for airlines. I love it.
Do a web search for "database of airports and runways". Here's one.
Back when I was still functionally sighted, I was the graphics programmer for a flight data and debrief application called FlightViz. In a nutshell, the application took flight data from a black box or flight simulator, and played the flight back on a computer screen, displaying cockpit instrument controls, navigation maps, flight paths, and 3D renderings of terrain and airports. It was used by instructors and student pilots to review training flights. We had a large collection of 3D models of aircraft with functioning control surfaces like rudders and flaps, and a large database of terrain elevation data and hi-res satellite images. I don't remember exactly which airport database we used, but it gave us the latitude, longitude, and elevation of every runway at every airport around the globe.
Even before that, when I was in college, one of the assignments in a programming class was to simulate air traffic control at an airport. We had to write a discrete simulation that responded to random landing and takeoff requests, queue planes in holding patterns while runways were occupied, handle emergency landing requests, track which planes were at which gates, etcetera.
A simulation that lets you grow your airline sounds pretty stinking cool. Good luck with this project.
Expectations
I'd just like to say this so people don't think it will be this amazing game on the first release. Firstly, it will take a while to create. I am working on this on my own, and it will mostly be in my free time because I also work full time. Secondly, the first version will be very simple, it will be turn based with one departure and 1 arrivals per turn. The first version will allow the player to buy and sell aircraft, choose a destination set ticket prices, and a few other things. Like every game, it will get better overtime, and after the initial release, I plan to add new features every week or so. The game will be free.
Timing
Would you all prefer this to be a turn based game, or to be in real time? or simulate real time, so 1 minute is for 1 hour?
Would you actively fly?
Hello,
Would you actively fly the plane/s you have? I'm, of course, not in that line of life. However, would you actually fly the planes ... even if you knew absolutely nothing about that sort of thing? One of my late family members worked at what used to be McDonald Douglass--now Bowing or however it's spelled. Anyway, the 747 from that airline would be cool to see/would dscriptions of the planes be given? I think real-time playthrough should b the first choice. Yet, I also agree that players who don't have that kind of time in the day can play this as you would normally. For the VoiceOver component, I think the iDevice--preferrably an iPhone--should be used in gyroscopic mode, landscape orientation for maps and things for people who see. After this, you could somehow bring back the old Nintendo game Piolate Wings--remember that?
Text based.
I am not able to create an app at this times so it will be a website. The way I am thinking the game would work is that you arethe ceo of an airline, and make choices like what plains to get, destination's prices and a range of other things. Depending on your choices, the airline will either make money, or go bankrupt. I'm not promising an amazing game, it will take time to create, and I will take all-feedback and I will continue to improve it and add new features over time. I can include images, and descriptions of the plains.
Wanted to be involved
Hello! If possible, I wanted to ask to help you. I'm interested in that area and have some software development experience, so I think would be good point to try develop a game together. If so and you're interested in my point, let me know.
Traction
Hi there,
You might get more traction if you were to submit your work to Hosted Games, or Choices LLC.
Just an idea. 🤔
Accessable Piolate Wings?
I know this should be its own topic, but since we're talking about flying here, what about creating an accessable version of the Nintendo game Piolate Wings? I remember hearing people play this, in my own family, that is, in the '90s/tried playing it myself, of course without access to the concel Nintendo 64, that is with screen access, of course--not in that decade, for sure. The music was good, and it seemed like a good game for those who see. I'd like an accessable version where you actually fly yourself--as the bird man--my favorite part--and all that. For that part, you could just have your phone in landscape mode, gently moving it up and down, just as if your wings were actually flapping--of course, bird man's wings. It'd be a lot better than holding to a joy stick all the time, right?
An other option
I'm still going to create the game, but while exploring other game options I've found Airline manager 2023 which is accessable. The app is in the directory
Eurofly is already out for PCS/not mobile, though
Hello
I just found out that the game Eorufly is out for Beta-testing on PCS. however, it's not for iPhones/other mobile devices yet. It's a pretty good game though, so please look it up at stefankiss.sk and see you in the skies! It's accessable with JAWS/NVDA and possibly Narrator, too. Of course, it's a beta, so expect bugs/report them to the developer.
It's not a new game.
Eurofly 3 is new and still at the beta stage, but the game already has two older versions. So it's not Eurofly that's out for PC's; it's Eurofly that is now out for PC's.
