What's up with iOS 17.1?

Hi, all! A lot of Youtube channels have stated that iOS 17.1 was going to be released yesterday, or today at the very latest. So far, there's no sign of it anywhere, and I haven't found any videos explaining the delay. I've also heard that Apple had to release the update by today because of some issue in France, so I'm super confused. I mean, I obviously have no choice but to keep waiting, but I'm super excited about some of the promised fixes, so was really looking forward to installing the update. All I can figure is that they must have found a really serious issue that's forcing them to postpone releasing the update, but if that's the case, I wonder why there haven't been any reports explaining the problem. Let's hope that the update comes out sooner rather than later.

I haven’t heard anything about these promised fixes. I hope you are right though, as this has been the most frustrating release for bugs I can recall since iOS 9.

The main fix I heard about that I'm looking forward to is the issue with purchased alert tones being resolved. I've been checking periodically, and the update still doesn't exist, and there aren't any videos on youtube explaining the delay. I would like to second the above comment thanking everyone who has the patience and ability to do beta testing. I only tried it once, and it was quite frustrating. I'm still operating under the theory that Apple discovered a serious bug which needs to be addressed before they can release the final iOS 17.1. At this point, I'm starting to think that it won't be released until next Monday when they have this new Mac event or whatever it is. Of course, I have nothing to support that theory, so would be more than happy to be proven wrong. *smile*

VO continues to read the time whenever I get a notification. Using iOS 17.1 RC.

Where did you hear of this update's day of release? The only trusted source I have is Apple. Like any expected update, we need to use patience. I'm not concerned. I do not have to have it right away. They work on an update, and when it is ready, it will be released. No problem. These are just my thoughts on the issue of "Why isn't out? I want it immediately."

I think the expectation that iOS 17.1 would be released either Monday or Tuesday was partly speculation based on Apple's typical release behavior, in addition to a report from a French regulatory agency via MacRumors that it would be publicly available by October 24 to address regulators' concerns about slightly elevated radiation levels on the iPhone 12.

That said, precise software release schedules can be fluid, and the fact that Apple last Friday seeded a second release candidate for the iPhone 15 certainly lends credence to the theory that a serious, last-minute issue was discovered that necessitated delaying the public release.

I expect the public release of 17.1 any day now. I am on 17.1 RC and it is working fine. I also know apple doesn't release major updates on event days. With that said, apple has done prior software releases later in the week. Apple could also surprise us and release 17.1 at 1pm eastern on Mon before the event.

Hi, I hear that purchased ringtones will work again in the 17.1 update. What about custom ringtones that many of us make ourselves?
Kind regards

Same here. I'm on iOS 17.1 RC and it's been working fine. Only time will tell. keep checking.

So, questions regarding 17.1.

1. Has the double tap issue been resolved?
2. Are Notifications working as intended?
3. This has already been asked, but what about 3rd party ringtones? Custom ringtones?
4. Any perceived battery issues?
5. Control Center: Is everything labeled correctly again?
6. Focus issues: Resolved or WIP?

I'm sure I will think of more things later, but this will do for now. Thanks.
