iOS 17 bugs I have reported so far

These are the iOS 17 bugs I have reported so far. I share them mindful that the more people report things to Apple Accessibility, the higher a priority they become.
I really hate to be a complainer, but there are quite a few at the moment. Some of these have been around a long time.

1) the erroneous reporting by VoiceOver of words as misspelled in certain situations, including the Mail app, and, indeed, when editing on Applevis

2) the long-standing issue of disappearance of the punctuation item from the rotor when the device is first powered on, restored by toggling VoiceOver off and on again.

3) what seems to be a loss of VoiceOver volume when the device is woken from locked or left idle even for a short time, where the initial speech output is quieter, and the volume rises to the set level.

4) the absence of sounds where they are turned on in notification settings, but where notifications are not set to show as banner, on the lock screen or in the notification centre. I don’t know if it is by design that you now have to have one of these selected for sound. I asked but was just told my feedback would be passed on.

5) the move of low battery alerts to the dynamic island in order to be less intrusive, for which there seems to be no VoiceOver indication at all.

6) Two VoiceOver and Siri bugs, which the Apple team could reproduce: a long-standing one in which VoiceOver will not read the screen content when Siri is asked to define a word, and a new one in which there is no spoken feedback at all when Siri is asked to identify a song while the device is locked.

Apple Accessibility have acknowledged receipt of all of these reports, so it is well worth contacting them. I think they do a great job.

Thank you for the encouragement. One thing I have found that cited people really like about VoiceOver is the screen curtain feature. They think it’s rather cool. As you say, fascinating that someone would prefer to use it when they don’t have to.
As for the dynamic island, I don’t think you’re missing much. Having said that, I upgraded from a 7 to a 15 just a couple of weeks ago so still getting used to it. :)

Hope those who are using iOS 17.1 beta 3 report the issue with VO and notification. Now whenever I get any type of notification, VO reads the time. Is driving me nuts. Please report and if you do not like this as much as me, do not update. Hope next week if they release the RC this is fix, however probably not.

Have you played around with the new verbosity setting? You can have VoiceOver do different things in relation to system notifications, including saying nothing while the screen is locked. This is what I have and I really like it.
Sorry, I don’t fully understand your issues so that might not be of help. Let Apple Accessibility know anyway, as they can give you instructions if it’s not a bug.

I hope it's OK to put this here. Anyway, when using the Weather app, you can no longer scroll down hour by hour after a few scroll downs it stops and jumps to location and then it changes your location. This is very strange and rather annoying! I am also experiencing a lot of instability when screens are animated and I'm not sure if there are settings to stabilize this. Any comments appreciated thank you

The Weather bug is on the list of active bugs produced by the Applevis team, so I would hope that would make it a priority to fix.
Contrary to popular opinion, I think this has to be one of the most awful updates for bugs since iOS 9. It’s a combination of new bugs being created and old ones not being fixed.

My biggest annoyance with iOS 17 is editing apps on my home screens.
In 16 and earlier this worked fine.
I could move apps around to make my own organizing of apps.
Now editing is a mess.
I flick up/down on an app to choose between put said app before or after said app etc but very often a folder is created instead.
I've found that double tapping the app and move it around and release when happy works better but I prefer using the rotor method.

Sad that is a bug. Hope they fix it before iOS 22.

I really hope this bug has been reported. Siri getting interrupted is really annoying to say the least.

Hopefully it has, but report it yourself anyway as it can’t do any harm.
I think I’m driving them crazy with all my reports but ultimately we pay the same premium price for the products, and they do genuinely want to help.
