The Eloquence speach synthesizer seems to be removed from iOS

Hi.

Today, when I used my iPhone, I discovered the default voice for Voiceover is back.
The eloquence voice that came with iOS 16 was not available.
It was with us when iOS 16 was released, and it was still with us when Apple released iOS 17, and now that Apple has released iOS 17.0.2, it seems to be removed.

I called Apple Accessibility to see if they new anything about this.
Unfortunately, when the tech updated his iPad to the latest version of iOS 17, on the phone with me, he also noticed that the Eloquence voice was not listed among the voice options available for Voiceover.

I personally hope that Eloquence comes back sooner than later.
I'm sure I speak for many blind individuals who have longed for and finally got the Eloquence voice on there iOS device and now find it gone.

Have any of you on this forum noticed this issue?
If so, do you have any methods of getting the Eloquence voice back to the iPhone?

This happened to me. when i installed iOS 17.0.2, I thought eloquence had gone. However I turned my phone off and back on, eloquence came back and is working fine now.

This happened to me when I initially updated my iPad to an iOS 17 beta. Restarting the device brought Eloquence back.

Eloquence is still on my iPhone 12. And my iPad Pro.

Hi, it's still there for me as well. Every time you perform an update to an operating system especially with the hot fix update, it uses the Samantha voice for a few seconds then a minute later the eloquence voice comes back. It's normal behavior.

Hi.

I did what all of you suggested. I restarted the device and sure enough, Eloquence came back.

Thanks for all your help.

Glad that restarting the phone worked for you. Now if only that will work for me. I have a voice that I keep deleting from my phone and, like Kenny from South Park, it's always back for a new episode. I just tried restarting and hopefully this will work.

Unfortunately, the voices seems to have gone for good after I updated my iPhone 12 to iOS 17.4.1.

Did you do a restart? If not, do so, it might help.

I checked a few hours ago and Eloquence is there.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, I did restart my phone before I wrote here. Perhaps a bit of tinkering can bring the voices back.. Hopefully 🤞

Why post the same question when it was already answered? You find this thread instead of making an entirely new one, meaning you are totally aware of its existence and the fact that others have had the same issue. What you do afterwards, however, is ask the very same question without ever feeling the need to go through the replies.
