Trying to have Voiceover announce pulse when exercising and using Airpods

watchOS and Apple Watch Apps

Here is my setup:

I have an iPhone 15 Pro, Airpods pro 2, and Apple Watch 7.

When I am running on the treadmill with my airpods in (and noise cancelation on), I try to ask Siri to tell me my pulse or heart rate. Unfortunately, since the airpods are connected to the phone, the phone answers that it can't do that Of course I can ask on the watch using Siri, but I can't hear the watch since I have the airpods in with noise reduction on because the treadmill and my pounding feet are too loud to bare with out noise reduction and trying to listen to a podcast.

so is there some way I can use Siri to check my pulse or heart rate when using the Airpods? Why doesn't the phone know about what's going on with the watch?

As a side question, even without the Airpods in and listening to the watch directly, if I ask Siri for my heart rate, the watch announces "heart rate" but never says the actual number automatically after it appears on the screen. I have to flick to "BPM" and flick back again to hear the number.

Thanks for any advice.

I found that when doing workous, I have to shut voiceover off, and let Siri know when I start changing from one heart rate zone to another, as well as letting me know how many minutes I'm into my goal, since i have it announcing minute by minute. Now I don't have any bt headphones connected to my Apple watch, but, I tried this also with a bluetooth speaker, and found that Siri will only announce these things with VoiceOver turned off.

joy,

Thanks for the suggestions. What a thing that a blind user has to turn Siri off in order to use a feature on the watch/phone.

The rest of your response intrigues me though. Several questions (since I'm new to the watch world):

- What do you mean about "getting into different heart rate zones"? What exactly are you setting up here and how?

- How do you make Siri announce your heart rate every minute? Can one pick different intervals for the announcement?

- I listen to podcast while exercising with my airpods in. Having Siri interrupt that every minute might be a distraction. Is there a way of just asking Siri once in a while for the current heart rate?

Thanks for any suggestions. I'll have to try out some of this next time I exercise.

From Joy's mesage above, it seems that one can set up to get automatic announcements during a workout.

Using the Apple watch and either a bluetooth speaker or Airpods, how does one do this?

I would like to check my pulse every once in a while while running on the treadmill and wearing my Airpods. If I ask Siri for my heart rate though, the phone (and not the watch) says that it can't provide that info. While wearing the Airpods, the Airpods listen to the phone and I can't hear the watch. If I connect the Airpods to the watch, then I can't play the podcasts that are on my phone.

Ideally I would like to say "Siri what is my heart rate". If that can't be done, I would be happy with automatic announcements.

Still looking for a solution. Seems like this should be possible.
