Handwriting Rotor

So, I like to use the Handwriting rotor for unlocking my iPhone. I do have the option of typing it out, or using Touch ID. However, as I am soon to be getting away from Touch ID with my next upgrade, I am trying to limit my use of the fingerprint option.

So Handwriting works, and well enough, however, is there a way to "only" have the Handwriting rotor on the lock screen? My reasoning for this is simply because I do not use Handwriting outside of "writing" my pin, and I loathe how the Handwriting rotor seems to move around within the Rotor options. For example, sometimes it is between "Words" and "Characters". Sometimes it is next to "Text Selection". Sometimes it is near the "Edit" option. Note, none of these are next to one another in my rotor preferences.

So yeah, Handwriting rotor, possible only on Lock screen?

Thanks in advance. 😆

I’ve never tried to set one up for the lock screen but I think it would be the only way you could get what you’re looking for, a custom rotor for the Lock Screen. I’d be interested to know if you are successful.

Its ironic. There are per app settings in both Activities and VO it self iirc, and there is nearly every app/screen you can think of, including "Home Screen", but alas, no "Lock Screen". 🤬

I wonder if Apple would be able to add it relatively easily. It’s kind of an oversight not to have it available if it can be done.

I've never understood why Apple doesn't just make it a typing style, you know like standard typing, touch typing, etc., etc.…

For some reason, my iPhone puts handwriting as the next turn to the right when the number pad on the lock screen comes up. I've never thought of this subject because it's never caused an issue for me. On the other hand having to three-finger swipe to numbers for a number pad slows things down for me. After the iOS 17 update, handwriting is sometimes already on numbers for the keypad. Strange inconsistencies between devices is the Apple way.

On the lock screen, the hand writing rotor is also one turn to the right. Ironically, this places it between characters and words on the lock screen. I don't mind it so much there, as all I am trying to do is unlock my phone.
