Switching Between Connections on Focus 40

Hi everyone,
So I recently began lending a Focus 40 Blue 5 display and am currently trying to get up to speed with some beginner things. I've connected it to my iPad, iPhone, and Mac via BlueTooth, but one thing I can't understand is how I can actually switch between the Focus' active connections. I've read the user manual, and from what I understand I should press the Menu button along with dots 1-5 depending on the BlueTooth connection number. The way I see it, this would be like using the Menu button between dots 1 and 4 as a modifier, then pressing dots 1-5. However, doing this this yields no result, and since I can't find any other useful resources online, I'm left wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or if my unit isn't working for whatever reason. I'm running version 5.82-20 which is the latest version of the firmware if this helps.
Thanks in advance for any help at all; I'd love to get this sorted, as it's extremely annoying to fiddle with turning off BT on all of my devices, say for the one I actually want to use the Focus with.

Press and hold the menu key while pressing the numbered dot of your bluetooth connection, dot1 for 1 dot 2 for 2, etc; dot 8 is for usb. At least this is what the manual says:
"If you are using the Focus display with multiple active connections, press the Menu button in conjunction with DOT 1 through DOT 5 to quickly switch to one of the five Bluetooth connections, or DOT 8 to switch to the USB connection."

Indeed, this is the first resource I flocked to, yet when I do what I think the manual is saying, nothing happens.

I paired my computer running jaws as my second device, my phone is the first. To switch to my first device, I hold down the center button and hit braille dot 1, to get back to my computer, I can hold down the center button and hit dot 2. This is on a Focus fifth generation; I don't know if this is available at all on older units.

Good luck.
