Traditionally girlish pink and feminine

If you saw me, sporting my pink dress and Apple wand covered in flowers and topped with a crystal, you would know something about me; namely, that I’ve never grown up and don’t plan to.
I have played a lot of games on the iPhone but nothing I have come across has anything to do with the kind of heart warming, sugary endorphine rush that I would like to play. I just saw a cute game on the App Store called tooth fairy sweet princess. And you guessed it, it’s not even remotely accessible.
While I don’t mind playing a male hero who gets shot at and shoots other people or monsters, I would like to at least once in a while play a heartwarming nurturing role. I would like to play a game in which I can channel my inner four year old pink girly girl. Complete with Tinker Bell wand, if you please.
But so far, as far as I can tell, not a single developer has created a heartwarming stress Dash free game in which I can decorate Barbies dream house or go with the tooth fairy on gift giving missions in exchange for teeth. I hope I am wrong. Is there any chance that someone has created such a game, and I haven’t yet run across it? I would definitely appreciate any such knowledge. Thanks.
By the way, puzzles don’t count. Card games and dice games are not what I’m looking for. I am looking for a pink and fluffy space in which I can immerse myself. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure if these might be the games you're looking for, but here goes. I'd suggest baby adopter, this is a game that lets you take care of a baby. Along the same line, I'd suggest little girl magic. The concept is like baby adopter, where you take care of a little girl instead of a baby. The games are mae by a dev called x2line and work with voiceover. I hope this helps.

While I can’t help you find a soft pink feminine place to be nurturing caring and have your heart fulfilled on your iPhone I very much hope you find what you’re looking for. Its always struck me as strange that basically all the options available are kill someone beat someone up, be the aggressor, escape the aggressor win at all costs, show you are the strongest type of games which are just representations of what we value in society. If we valued nurture, care, empathy and comfort the App Store would reflect that. It seems like developers understand that adrenaline and testosterone are easier hooks than oxytocin, and estrogen. Its such a shame because nobody ever wins, nobody ever builds anything and nobody ever lives in a wholesome loving caring environment while we value strength over care. I hope you’ll update this list if you find a fun wholesome loving place to immerse yourself in on your iOS device.

You expanded on my thoughts from above. Its easier to build a game around fear and opposition than around pink fluffy spaces where we all feel good together. Difference between dystopia and utopia… I wonder which end of the spectrum our current world is closer to?

It may be easier to build that kind of experience in real life than on a phone. In real life you’re only limited by your imagination and the people around you. On a phone you’re limited to what the market thinks will make the most money.

The amount of rants I've gone through on this very subject in the last few months alone... Really, I'd love something gentle, to plant faerie gardens, decorate houses, bake pastries. Even if there is some kind of conflict, (Time, unhappy customers, etc,) something that just has whimsey and kindness and prettiness at its heart is so very dearly needed. They aren't on the PC, either.

I'd love to see accessible games that aren't full of dudes. Nothing wrong with you fellas, but it'd be refreshing to get something else. Be it a cutesy game or an adventure or what have you.

I'm a guy and have noticed there's not many women characters in games and it's sad.

Women can be kick arse heros too ya no.

Alter Ego and the Baby adopter games are the only ones I know of. I think there is a dog game in the Blindfold Games collection as well. Hopefully a developer out there reads this and responds to the demand.

I didn’t actually expect so many warm comments. Truthfully, I didn’t expect any comments. I’ve played not the baby adaptor game, but there was a game I think it was called my baby Sim. It was quite OK, except for the fact that you had to spend money every time you turned around, and the developer wasn’t really a game developer. Plus, you are always being told what a crappy parent you are. It was the closest thing I came to, though. Little girl magic was a little better. But like I say, the games are out there, they’re just not accessible. As I say, there are Barbie dream house decoration games and tooth fairy games and princess games, and none of them are accessible. So while I’m in a blind legend trying to escape the guard room, I guess I’ll just hope for the best. By the way, real life isn’t quite as multiple as one might hope. For instance, the shut down and isolation effects of COVID-19 mandates, plus my other illnesses besides blindness, make real life quite and workable for me as far as warm fuzzies go. I have my battles in real life, as everyone does. There are some nice ASMR experiences, such as nature sounds and Harry Potter tape sounds such as the Hufflepuff common room available on YouTube. They’re not interactive, however. My situation isn’t worse than anyone else’s. It’s just unique in that I have very little contact with people due to my illnesses and can’t indulge in comfort food thanks to diabetes. I cannot walk because I’m in a wheelchair and total blindness doesn’t help any of those conditions out. So the only thing I can think to do is think deeper into fantasy until death rescues me. Pardon me for being morose. I didn’t mean to spill the tea. But what the hell, since I’m using dictation on this message and it would be too hard do use my hands thanks to rheumatoid arthritis I don’t suppose I’m gonna go over this and try to delete parts of the message.
OK, I’ve listened to the message and what I meant to say is that real life isn’t always more doable than the game world. And oh yes, back in my PC days, there was a game called Sarah good and the castle of witchcraft and wizardry. A Harry Potter game. I loved it because I’m a Harry Potter fan, and also because the lead was female. She kicked arse.

Thanks for the altar ego game. I’m off to check them out now. And I think there was another game that you mentioned. Really, guys and ladies, I thank you for your many warm comments. I didn’t realize there were so many people out there who agreed with me. Quick question: how does one change one’s profile information? I know that’s a bit OT but there it is. :-)

Well, look what Apple has done to me. With so many 3-D audio games without text in which I can feel that I am someone else doing interesting things, I’m afraid the text based adventure game and which are used to revel has lost its appeal. I hope someone invents or develops a nice 3-D endorphin rush type of game. That would be really neat. If not planting fairy gardens, perhaps looking after kittens. All that purring and miaowing wood would melt me and send me right over the top. Oh yes, a long time ago on the PC, I played a game in which I am bodied a Christmas angel and the game was 3-D audio so as an angel, you fly around giving joy and hope and peace and other such lovely things to homes in obvious need of them. Does anyone remember that game?

By Princess Thea on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 - 13:51

OK, I'm on the PC now. The keyboard I can rest my hands on is better than dear old Siri. What I meant to say is that real life for me isn't quite as workable now, though I'm thankful for the nurses, home care, and friends I do have. I want to say a big thank-you to the game developers, not to mention the actors, singers, etc., that have made living with multiple illnesses and such more bearable. Still waiting for those pink, fluffy spaces, (for my fellow travelers, there are some awesome ASMR's on YouTube, such as the Hufflepuff common room) I thank you for letting me combat monsters and kick ass. If not in real life, on the iPhone.

All of five minutes ago, my opinion basically boiled down to: "All this cutesy stuff is fine and all, but if you're suggesting a game where this is the only aspect, where is the conflict and opposition? How then can it be a game if there is no defined losing state?" But then I remembered every Nintendo game featuring Yoshi... I guess I see your point now.

Something tells me these games do exist (somewhere) but are rarely featured due to lack of universal interest leading to less money banked at the end of the day. That, or because they're already a minority, even less (or perhaps close to none) are actually accessible. The only game I can think of that's even remotely similar is Doki Doki Literature Club, but even then it... doesn't quite fit the bill. You'll get what I mean if you've ever seen it before. It's also only made accessible by the aid of a hack to enable a screen reader customary to the Python library the game was made with but was disabled for that game for some reason. This also means it wasn't made for iOS.

They are on the App Store, which was the impetus for this thread. I found it on the App Store and download it. It was one of those cute sweet little girl type games. But it wasn’t accessible. Of course there are ASMR‘s and atmospheres you can listen to which are very pretty but you can’t interact with them as a character or anything. You can find them on YouTube. And I do enjoy them although I would love to be able to interact in those settings.

There is one other game I completely forgot about. It is called WidgetPet. There are no babies in this game, however there are a variety of pets you can choose from to take care of. The game seems to be text-based, with no sounds. The game is completely accessible with voiceover, so you will always know what your pet wants. The pet does not go off for attention, you will just have to check the app a few times a day at random.

It's actually an interesting problem, since; as you said yourself, most of what is considered "feminine", in design tends to be visual, and thus not only are most fashion, design or even pet production and care games resulting in design elements exclusively inaccessible, but even types of action games that in the past did visually have an incredibly cutesy aesthetic would not translate into audio or text.

EG, Bubble bobble was an old game series from the nineties where you played as two little dragons trying to trap monsters in bubbles and kick them off screen, yet if there was an audio version, it would by necessity be a more harsh game, since there would be no way to indicate to the player how cute the monsters, the enemies, and how none fatal the bubbles were.

Even turning away from action, I can think of a fair few games without heavy combat mechanics or atmosphere, eG crafting kingdom, sonar islands, and plenty of card/word/puzzle trivia games, but even where they are conflict free like crafting kingdom they don't really have the sort of atmosphere or exclusively feminine, pink princess with magic wand type of aesthetic you're looking for.

One suggestion that does come to me is planet life.

The game is quirky weird fun, with you literally playing as a planet in a solar system and getting on with everyone, mining coco pops from a coco pops asteroid, gathering and trading stardust, at one point going to a broccoli empire to work for it's queen, as well as having a really close friendship with a little robot called burger.

The one issue is the game does have a dungeon/rpg mecahnic in which you send derik the space bull down into dungeons to beat up jerks, which does indeed

, does involve beating people up, albeit in a very none serious way (the game even tells you the jerks recover).

It's probably not precisely what you are looking for entirely, but if you want a game where the emphasis is more interacting with friendly characters and enjoying the atmosphere than heavy dire "go and bash monsters", or "got to reach that target", type of conflict it might be worth a go.

There are also various romance titles from choice of games/hosted games/hearts choice, I'm especially thinking here of the game "in the service of Mrs. clause", where you can literally play as a christmas elf complete with candy cane, or indeed a fairy with pink lacy wings and magic wand.

Hth, and thanks for an interesting question.

I think that game is called Angel Gift.

I might even still have it somewhere, only that game lost its appeal after finishing it.

I don't remember if it's choice of games or hosted games, but one of those has a gamebook where you can raise a child.

It starts from when you see the child in the hospital for the first time, but not sure how far you can actually go.

When I played the demo it stopped right at the point when I was sending the child off to school for the first time.

I know of a platform, at least, I'm going to think of them as a platform where this sort of thing can frive, not because I think their aren't enough games like this, but because they are trying to build apps that are audio first.

They're currently not on iOS, but since their platform is more online based, I think someone could probably pull something like this off, cause it's basicly menu driven.

I'll send them the link to this thread, and see what they think.

I'm writing this as I read some of the comment, so I appologise if my post is all over the place.

There's a web based game where you need to manage a village of kittens.

I keep meaning to take a look at that game, but I hear the iOS app isn't all that easy to use, and the web based version really throws a lot of stats at you.

Hear is the link to that one.

So i kind of gave up on these types of games on IOS. We have virtual pets like Hatchi and widget pet. And their great dont get me wrong. I still play them. My baby sim was incredible to me. I wish it still existed. But I just dont think they will make those games or if they do make them accessible. I tried the Tamagotchi app out and its not even near accessible.
So this isnt the advice you want or are looking for but why not just buy a virtual pet. Tamagotchi still exists. and other virtual pets I used to play with I am sure you can buy online or at a store what ever is easier.
I have an original Tamagotchi I got for Christmas and it requires so much more attention than the Hatchi app. A great thing about actually just buying virtual pets is you buy the pet and there is no in app purchases for food and all that.
You just play with it and give it attention and whatever else it needs.
As for baby care games im not sure how to help with that. But virtual pets there is all kinds.

To the poster who said there was a game book where you could take care of a child, do you remember what that game is called? I've done a google search and have come up with zillch.

By kool_turk on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 - 13:51

I managed to find it.

It's called The Parenting Simulator and it's by Matt Simpson.

You can find it on Hosted Games.

It's almost $7 in Australia, not sure about other places.

It looks like you can raise the child right up till addulthood.

I'm not sure if I'll pick this one up myself because gamebooks tend to lose their value after a few plays through.

Still, better than nothing I suppose.

Hi, I agree here. I found a decorating game where you could use real time items to decorate your imaginary home it was of course in accessible. Would love to have something like that to really get to decorate and have that fun. I think you could also earn credit to purchasing some of those real world items. I also love to cook and bake someone did create a blind cooking game but it wasn’t really much fun. Very memorization almost like Simon past food not very fun. Love to see more games care toward the sorts of activities that have been made accessible or completely for the blind.

As a man, I also like the idea of games that focuses on something other than combat for a change. I personally would like to see a fishing game for example. It could be a game where you select your fishing gear and perhaps even the place you wish to fish at. Then, you can cast your line and listen to the nice music or nature Sounds around you. Occasionally, you can receive a bite on your hook and you will then have to draw in the fish. Once the fish is caught, the game can then tell you what kind of fish it is, as well as its weight. There was actually a game like that for the PlayStation one and it was called Fisherman's bait 2. Boy did I spend hours on that game, just to unlock all the different countries in the world. Each country had its own music, as well as its own fish.

By treky fan on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 - 13:51

While I was browsing threw the games on my phone, looking for something, I found a game where you can have your own virtual fish tank. The game is called mobile aquarium. My only issue with this game is you don't get notifictions when your fish need feeding, or your tank needs cleaning, so my fish always end up dying on me.

Hi Princess Thea. So, I have a bit of personal experience with this. Back in approximately 2015, I came across this game called Fairy Doll. There actually used to be an app entry on here, but it was likely removed because the app no longer exists, and because of what happened when the devs were contacted by me. So, the game was more accessible than I had expected, with VoiceOver reading things, or at least, not going quiet when swiping the screen as most inaccessible apps do with VoiceOver. So, I contacted the developer, and was told that they did not feel that they could make it accessible due to the graphics and some other explanations that I don’t recall right now. So, then, I posted the app in the directory, thinking/hoping that we could garner enough support that maybe we could change the devs’ minds. But, this too was unsuccessful, despite the many supportive comments and things I got as replies to my submission. What we need is a developer who understands both graphics and VoiceOver, who is willing to spend the time to help develop the types of games you, and many of us are seeking. Back in 2020, or 2021, I wrote to a developer with an idea for a game like this, as she had produced fairy-themed stickers for iMessage that were accessible. She suggested that I hire a freelance developer. The response was shocking, but due to the market, and various other factors, it may come down to that? Just know that if I ever become financially secure enough to do something like that, I would absolutely look into in. Sorry for the lengthy post, but this is something that I’d like to have too.
