So, first off you need to find a show that you know for sure has Ad. In the languages section on the page all about the show the option shold say English AD if it has it. The Expanse is one I know for certain has it.
Once the video is playing you need to double tap to force the screen to show you the controls. Feel free to pause the program with the magic tap.
Go to Language and Subtitles and double tap, flick until you find English Audio Description and double tap.
This should in theory thus turn that option on automatically for everything that has it.
The movie Red, White and Royal Blue also has this just if you need something else to use to enable it.
Be aware that some movie providers offer audio description with no surround sound, and they don't tell you on each movie or show whether you lose it or not. You'll have to listen to see if you've lost surround sound after you've switched to audio description.
It's a matter of personal taste. Some people are perfectly satisfied with music or show or movies played on their iPhones. Some people prefer it with ear buds. Others from external speakers. Keep going up this ladder, and you get to what I have, or even better.
To me, surround sound (including ATMOS and DTS:X) was worth $17,500 to acoustically treat a room in my home and to install a home theatre system that includes 11 high end speakers and a sub woofer all around and 4 overhead the 2 chairs in the center. Smile. I'd have you over to watch a movie so you could hear for yourself. Do you live anywhere near Southern Oregon US?
Yes, to me surround is important. To many others, not so much.
