Is anyone else having issues with the alex voice suddenly going silent? I've been noticing this for a while I want to say since IOS16? I can turn vo off and back on to fix it. This is an SE2022.
Just curious if you're running the beta. I have the thing where it will go from alex to Asmantha and sometimes back again, sometimes i get annoyed and just turn itoff then on again. I do not like samantha much less the compact version it switches too. Sorry I'm not more help.
I have also been having this issue with Alex suddenly not speaking and all I can hear when I flick is the clicking but no speech. I also have to turn VoiceOver off and on again to get speech back again. I am not running the beta, just the latest build of iOS16 version. I think I've had this issue for at least a couple of months.
Disclaimer: I am rocking iOS 16.6 on an iP SE 2nd Gen.
I have not encountered this as of yet. However, as iOS 16 and macOS 13 are similar in code, I feel this may be a possible fix.
1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
2. Go to Spoken Content.
3. Disable the following: Speak Selection, Speak Screen, Typing Feedback (turn off EVERYthing here), Detect languages.
4. Go to Voices (still within Spoken Content), and choose Alex instead of Samantha.
5. Set speaking rate to match VO's.
6. Close out of the settings screen and toggle off, then on VO.
7. Win.
HTH. 😎
Edit: Forgot to mention the whole point about macOS 13. Which is to say that there is a glitch with VO and Spoken Content, where the settings of each overlap one another. Makes for some gnarly TTS sessions. True story. 🥺
