Description of App

Word puzzles just got a whole lot better. Exercise your brain during your downtime with this new unique twist on word-puzzles you’ve come to know and love. Each puzzle contains six clues you’ll aim to find the one-word answers for. Each answer is broken-up into groups of two or three letters, presented as buttons in the lower portion of your screen, and jumbled for your brain-teasing enjoyment. Try to spell out each of the answers in the puzzle by tapping buttons to add them to your spelling. Zanagrams will automatically detect if you’ve spelled any of the answers in the puzzle you’re working on, and any of the buttons you used to spell that answer will be permanently-disabled to narrow-down your choices. By the time you finish a puzzle, you’ll have used every button once. -Compete against friends by seeing who gets the best score for each puzzle in its Official mode. -Play randomized versions of puzzles you’ve already completed for endless fun! -Use hints to reveal the next group of letters in a word when you get stuck. -Zanagrams contains 20 free puzzles, spread across two Puzzle Packs, totalling 120 anagrams you can play as many times as you like. -Once you’ve fallen in-love with the game, you can purchase more Puzzle Packs, choosing from our huge selection of both themed and unthemed Puzzle Packs. -100% accessible with Voiceover. -High-contrast color options available for low-vision users

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

I really enjoy playing this game, and I hope you will too! It was created by a completely blind developer, which I think is incredible.

7 little words used to be this accessible until they decided to make it playable on multiple platforms. It is now very cumbersome to use. Thank you for correcting their terrible mistake. Your puzzle packs are much smaller for the same price, but the game is accessible as it should be.

Fun game. I like it.
To the creator of this game, thanks for your service.
I salute you respectfully. Thank you for developing this game.

I really like the game as well. I informed a couple of my sighted work colleagues about the game and they were both keen to try it.

Thank you for the kind words; I'm glad you're liking Zanagrams so far!

I am really enjoying this game. However, twice since I've installed it, I've completed a puzzle in word salad first edition. But the puzzle reverts back to official load in progress 0 of 6 solved. When I open the corresponding puzzle none of the letter groups appear. The only solution has been to uninstall and reinstall. And start everything over again. Puzzles 1 and 4 have crashed so far after I've completed them. I couldn't find contact information or a feedback link within the app. Hopefully an update will resolve those issues.

This issue was fixed a few updates ago. Version 1.0.6 is the most-current version available, and 1.0.7 will be available in the next few days.
If you're still having these issues after updating, please email me at contact@darkhorsegamestudios.com.

Also, I'll work to make my contact information easier to find in the next update. Thank you for the feedback!

just downloaded this this morning, and I have to say, I am hooked. I'm doing the outer space themed puzzles
Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you for your service also

Hi. I downloaded 1.0.6 when I discovered the game a few days ago. I removed andreinstalled and did my first four puzzles again, which was ok because I didn't remember all of the answers. Will await version 1.0.7 and email you if the disappearing puzzle issue continues. If it helps, I am running 16.0.1 I believe, on an IPhone XR. Thanks. Keep up the great work! Much respect to you; thank you for your service.

If the issue does persist, please include very-specific information as to when this is happening. For example:
Are the scores you're losing only happening after the app crashes? If so, under which of the following circumstances:
-Did you complete an individual puzzle
-Did you complete a puzzle, then move-on to the next one by pressing the 'Next puzzle' button that appears on the screen that tells you your score?
-Did you leave the app open while working on a puzzle and come back to it later?

-Also

Are you leaving the app open in the background for some time during sessions?

I haven't been able to reproduce any of these issues since version 1.0.5 went live, but having the information mentioned above would help me narrow-down what I need to do to reproduce the error on my end. Also, just to make sure we are using the same terminology: When you say 'crash', you're referring to when the app quits unexpectedly, correct?

Finally, version 1.0.7 is ready, but I'm having technical/accessibility issues with Apple's developer tools, and won't be able to submit it until those issues are resolved.

I'm absolutely addicted to this game and am really impressed with its full accessibility with voiceover. Just one question regarding the latest update. What's with the button right at the top of the screen labeled "tests". Double-tap this and voiceover says "spelling test, button". Double-tap this button and absolutely nothing happens. I was just wondering what's the purpose of an option that doesn't appear to do anything? Am i missing something? Thanks, and keep up with the fantastic work.

So I have purchased a couple of additional puzzle packs, one of them being Ancient History First Edition. There are some problems, which I wonder if anyone else can verify? I am on iOS 17 beta, but I can not see how these particular issues could be related to that.
In both Ancient History 3 and 8, there are only five clues, with one blank clue, stating it has zero letters. If you complete the other five with no mistakes you get a score of minus one instead of a perfect score.
Ancient History 10 is similar but worse. It has only one clue and five blanks.

My apologies, I meant to remove that button before I released the update, and will make-sure to remove it with the next one. That button was something I temporarily added, and it runs tests within the game that I can view the results of when my phone is hooked-up to my computer.

I was out-of-town and just got home, so I will be looking into this over the next few days. It would help me to know if you were playing before version 1.0.8, and if this issue is with version 1.0.8. I found some spelling issues with some of the puzzles before the previous update and wrote code to process and handle the changes based on certain criteria, like if a player is already working-on one of the affected puzzles. That code went live with version 1.0.8, and is where I believe this issue may be coming from, but I need that extra information from you to track it down for sure.

@Dark Horse Game Studios: thank you for making this game fully accessible to braille users. I also appreciate that the guide and tutorial were in text as well. BRAVO! I was quite sad when 7 Little Words decided to use the stupid Unite platform. Technically, it is possible to play games on this platform with a braille display on iOS, but it's far from what I would call enjoyable. Please keep up the good work, and also please never abandon supporting VoiceOver itself. This is the only way I know of to keep it fully playable with a braille display as well as for speech users.

Hey Scott,
I developed Zanagrams, and I'm glad you're enjoying the game so far. I decided to teach myself how to code after losing my sight a few years ago, and I will always make my games accessible to everyone.

If you haven't already, please take the time to leave a rating and review in the App Store. That really helps independent developers, like myself, a lot!

I'm really enjoying this game. But I did come across one issue which I think may be the same as one reported earlier for a previous version.

I'm only on the free ones so far, although might purchase some other packs. But I was making my way through word salad and I completed one puzzle and selected to go to the next one. It then took me to a puzzle I'd already finished in the Space pack, although the title was still word salad. When I went back to the word salad one of my existing puzzles had become unsolved and was now space. And I found that it also uncompleted some other ones I had finished so I ended up having to go through again.

Not sure if it was because I had started most of the puzzles and only completed some of them, then left the app open in the background all week. I had a bit of a session on it yesterday and that's when the problems started.

At one pooint it had Word Salad 10, which is one I had finished, and it was showing 0 completed. When I went into it, there were no letters underneath so I couldn't carry on.

I quit the app and started again and all seems fine now. So when I finish a session I guess I will quit the app. Also maybe going back to the start rather than selecting Play next puzzle.

This is the kind of game where I am likely to obsessively want to complete everything, so if I have to keep replaying over and over then I will probably not bother so hopefully this won't keep happening.

Puzzles become un-completed
Hey! I’m sorry you’re having these issues. As you mentioned, some users were having this issue earlier on, but I’ve had that fixed for quite some time now. Please email me at “contact@darkhorsegamestudios.com” with the following information. It’s vital that you include this information so I can recreate this scenario on my end.
1: Zanagrams and iOS version
2: When you say you had the app in the background, are you saying that you never closed the app for the entire week?
3: Did this happen with every puzzle you played over that period, or just ones that you started and left open in the background?
4: Any other specific information you can offer surrounding the circumstances during the times when you’ve had the issue, versus when you haven’t.

Once I have that email from you, I’ll get that all fixed as soon as I can.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that Zanagrams now has live leaderboards that allow you to compare your performance against your friends, family, and players around the world. Go download version 1.1.3 from the App Store and be sure to leave a 5-star rating and review while you're there. Remember: Zanagrams is playable by everyone, regardless of whether or not they have a disability, so share it around!

Hello awesome developer. I'd like to say that this is a great game and am thrilled to be playing it on my free time to calm my stress levels down. I am running iOS 17.4 and Zanagrams 1.1.3 and I did have the app open a little while I would say at least 20 minutes and I came back to it and finished the puzzle however like it’s been mentioned here sorry to say, but that bug still exists where it doesn’t actually crash, but there is no tiles to be seen and I used all of my hints. I had 50 of them. Would love to see about getting replacement. Tried to finish the puzzle in this level. Anyway, when I go back to Zanagrams after closing it, it still shows that puzzle 21 in Ward salad three is still in progress and is not completed zero of six completed and when I swipe around, there aren’t any tiles to verify that I’ve not completed it, even though technically I have. I hope this helps. I haven’t had this issue until now.
