Hi guys have any of you tried using the Amazon Music app? I have Amazon prime so thought I'd give it a go. However, to say it is awful underestimates how bad I'm finding it. Sluggish, unlabelled buttons and just general lack of accessibility. Even with screen recognition on or off. So am I doing something wrong or is it crap. Worse than the Amazon shopping app which is saying something. Any thoughts?

Music app
Yep I use the echo device or the alexa app to play music. Much easier.
I have
I was able to get by with it, I do prefer Spotify though.
An odyssee
I'mstruggling with the Amazon Music App for two years now an have ever since been in contact with the support-team. But in my view accessibility is even more deteriorating with time.
The biggest annoyances I came across so far are:
- The above mentioned sluggishness
- Within the search results, you have to swipe four times to get from one result to the next
- Within the search results, there s no way to navigate by heading for artists, songs and albums
- Personal playlists can't be renamed because the button can't be focused with Voiceover
- It's impossible to add songs to a playlist, because within the selection menu the elements for the playlists are unlabelled
- Fürthermore ,there're countless elements witch are persistently unlabelled
-I currently try to switch to spotify, but unfortunatly Alexa commands on the echo are very restricted with Spotify compared to Amazon Music.
If anyone of you is also unsatisfied with the current state of accessibility of the app, please also contact the support team.
Thanks and best regards,
- Daniel
Yep
You've pretty much summed it up for the IOS app. It used to be very usable, but after all the changes they made, I stopped using it. Now they send me emails telling me I have an unused benefit in my Prime subscription in regard to the music. The problems seem to also happen on my Fire tablet, however, I am able to navigate and listen to the music in my library etc on a desktop with a web browser for the Amazon site. I've had a better experience with the IOS Amazon shopping app than you.
To be fair
The shopping app is usable. This app really is bad. Makes me wonder why Amazon are so bad when it comes to accessibility. Such a big company in 2023 really shouldn't be acting like a small underfunded entity. Oh well back to apple music then which isn't free lol.
Audio routing problem as well
Hi, not sure if anyone else had this issue, but when I installed the Amazon Music app, for a long time, voiceover routed itself to the earpiece instead of the main speaker of the IPhone. I had to go in and disable microphone access to get VO to not sound as if it was far away talking through a soda straw and damn near unlistenable. However, yes, the app is very slow and it takes 4 swipes to just get to the next song or artist . I'm running Ios 16.4 on an Iphone 12 pro. I try the app on occasion but usually just use the echo device or the Amazon Alexa app itself which I find quite accessible. I'm not a Spotify user as the Echo I think requires premium to use it on there, and I already pay for Amazon and Apple music, so that's enough for me. Just my thoughts.

Very true what oldBear said,…
Very true what oldBear said, another thing is when in a playlist I have to swipe like 4-5 times to get from one song to the next, plus it's sluggish and I have long playlists, so that doesn't help. I have long since switched over to spotify, and it's way better, I do generally use my phone though for music not my echo.
