Finding out if an Apple ID has activation lock when device is passcode locked?

I have an iPad Air from 2013 which I’m wanting to start using again
In 2020, my mum‘s ex-husband got removed from the house, but before he got removed, he changed the iPad passcode, and didn’t tell anybody what it was
So before I put it into recovery mode and reset it, is there a way I can find out if the Apple ID associated with that iPad has activation lock enabled,

Activation Lock is enabled on any device signed into an Apple ID with Find My turned on.

I can’t exactly check on the iPad, and I haven’t used that thing in like three years, so I don’t know the Apple ID password

Apple outlines this exact steps, in short, it's rather complicated. The only way to really know whether your device has activation lock on is by restoring via computer and having that be reverted to the setup screen. Alternatively, if you're able to provide the device's proof of purchase or your legitimate ownership, checkout the steps outlined here: https://al-support-mdn.apple.com/#/getsupport

Turns out it does have activation lock. I will never use the iPad again for your nap now.
