Mine and refine resources which can be bought and sold in a completely player-driven supply and demand economy. Use resources to power your nation, build military units, city improvement, and large-scale projects to improve your nation.
Raise armies and wage war with other players. With 7 different military units, including nuclear weapons, you can raid neighboring nations to loot money and resources or wage all out attrition war to pummel your opponents into the ground.

Work together with other players to compete for economic, militaristic, and diplomatic dominance in the game.
Politics and War is free to play with no in-app ads, and unlike other games has strict limits on “pay-to-win” activity. This game was built and is still being developed and improved upon by an independent developer who was only 16 when he first created the game.
With a thriving community around the game that includes player-run international organizations that handle in-game banking, nation building loans, in-game news organizations, and much more, Politics and War is an online nation building game like no other. How to get power
My city doesn’t have power, I don’t know how to get it
All in all I’m not much of a fan of the game, it’s just really, it’s just, weird to navigate in news
About power
As far as getting power goes, you need to build either a coal mine, first, or an oil well, first, this all depends on what continent you are on, and what is available on that continent. Once you have built a coal mine, for example, you can then build a coal power plant. By the way, if anyone wants to look me up in the game, my nation is nation of Chihuahuas. Because I have a Chihuahua and I love him to death!
How to Power your Cities
To power your city, you need coal, oil, or uranium. Depending on the continent you find yourself on, you can extract resources from mines.
I'll post a link to the wiki page and which continents have which resources.
https://politicsandwar.fandom.com/wiki/Resources
Tip: Buying food on the market is cheaper than producing it in the early game.
I also recommend joining an Alliance, as you run the risk of being endlessly raided.
Better Tutorial
I suggest watching this updated tutorial. The in-game tutorial is disregarded by everyone. I'll post a link below. It will help you grow in a better manner..
https://youtu.be/rO_-b-MpGsk
Is this an actual tutorial?
A lot of the times, some guy comes up and says, hey, this is the best strategy to win the game or outpower your opponents, and then just acts as though his/her strategy can be considered a tutorial with the absolutely best path to follow for everyone. Then let everyone follow these steps and you'll have no winner...
Thoughts on Tutorial
Overall, I think that his tutorial is helpful if you wish to be self sustaining short term. Even if you log in a few times a week it is rather helpful. I used his advice when figuring out my nation and it helped me grow to city 11.
However if you are actively raiding other nations like myself you can make a decent profit.
I'd advice you to join an alliance, as they will teach you the ropes. Advice from veterans is always the winner. Good luck
If you need assistance, find me in game as Aztek Empire. Likewise, you may message me on Discord or on here.
Why I don’t enjoy these games
Running the risk of being endlessly raided sucks. I’d rather people leave me alone, or let fighting be a mutual agreement.
Seems to me
Good alliances make for peaceful co-existence, wouldn't you say? Sure works for me.
Alliances
Alliances provide you security from raiders like myself, and they give you grants to help you grow your nation.
However, there are alliances that focus on war and raiding, like the one I am in. It is all dependent on what your playstyle is.
How do I return to the tutorial? And
Hi. I would very much like to learn how to play, but I'm having trouble navigating around inside the game. For example, I can't figure out how to return to the point where I left off in the tutorial last time I was logged in. What am I supposed to click on?
Also, I note there aren't any easy and quick ways to go directly to a section. There are no headings, articles, landmarks, etc. How do blind people navigate inside this game? Just swipe swipe swipe for 5 minutes every time you try to do something? If that's the case, I don't think this game will be worth the time and trouble, I'm sorry to say.
Last, I listened to the you tube tutorial and thought it was great, well, those portions I could hear. The problem might be on my end, but it seemed like there was a lot of distortion in the recording, and I had a lot of trouble understanding what was being said at times.
Sorry to be a downer, but there it is.
Tutorial
It has been a while since I completed the tutorial, almost three months ago. I believe you can see it via the objectives tab.
The YouTube tutorial is actually more helpful, and it will get you further ahead than the in-game tutorial. The game tutorial is disregarded by the more experienced players. It may be your end where you hear the distorting in the video, as it sounds good on my end.
Do you have Discord? I respond there a lot faster than I do here.
Hi crypto0144
Thanks for the tip about the objectives tab. That really helped.
I'm stumped when it comes to Discord. I don't suppose there's an easy to follow, tutorial for dummies for Discord you know of? I'm handicapped by more than blindness. I'm a retired lawyer. Makes me take everything literally, which gets me into computer trouble.
Next, is there a MacOS version of the game? I'd love to get this on my desktop. I did download a desktop version from the game's web site, but I'm having a ton of trouble logging in, so I'm wondering if I got the right one, or if there's a trick to it. I did turn on an accessibility thing or two on Safari Discord, but I don't know if that made things worse.
Last, or maybe last, I figured out that navigating inside the IOS version of the game is easier when I use the item chooser. Do you have any other suggestions for navigating, such as incredibly useful VoiceOver rotor options?
OK, this is last for now, do you or anyone blind whom you know offer tutoring in this game? I'd be happy to compensate you or whoever for your time, provided we can do it over the phone so I can take notes to develop a cheat sheet until I get the hang of how to use the game efficiently.
Thank you a ton for your help. This game looks like it's going to be great for all my sleepless hours.
Best,
Bruce, AKA Cave AKA Boo Boo
Same questions
Really, how do we resume the tutorial? I couldn't quite figure out how and where to get started. How do we navigate and perform tasks?
A couple answers
Hi. I finally figured it out. Near the top is a link called menu. Double tap it. Then swipe right for a half hour or so until you get to a couple links labelled objectives. Double tap. Swipe another half hour until you get to where you left off. I have absolutely no idea why they decided to call it objectives. Calling it tutorial would have made so much more sense!
I've found a couple rotor items that reduce the swipe time a little. They are: table, link, button, row, and text (like static text).
It would be wonderful if the designer created some sort of thing like a header to get to the meat of the page fast, and it would be incredibly helpful for the designer to include a back button. I've been forced to start over every time I have to hit the back button that doesn't exist.
I'm dreading looking at the map. Anyone have guts enough to peek at it yet? shudder
Answers
Sorry for my disappearance. I have gotten fairly busy with real life, and that caused me to abandon you.
The map is the only thing that is inaccessible, however, the map is pointless. Why? You may ask.
You can be attacked by any nation regardless of continent. Continents are only a concern when farming raw resources. I do not know any tricks for rotor navigation. I just use the links option.
There is the website that you can play via browser such as Safari, on Mac, and I had success there. Use the quick nav on Mac mainly pressing L for links and B for button. If you need a further explanation, I can clear things up for you.
Crypto
Hey Crypto.
Real life can do that. Happily, you can answer this next question, and then I will finally be able to join an alliance.
How does one go about Pinging @admissions on Discord for an alliance which has asked me to ping @admissions?
A step by step answer would be very helpful. I'm woefully ignorant, and I have a long history of having trouble with computers.
Btw, I'm up to 10 cities now.
Thank you.
Joy!
Bruce
Web Browser based.
Hey guys, thanks for the great suggestion! I am now at this for 2 days, and my wife already said I spend too much time at this game lol. Anyway, I found out that you can get around much quicker with the Web Browser based using a keyboard. As of now I am using Windows with NVDA, and I have several windows open for a tab for eaxch city.If you move via list command, you will go tthrough your sidebar much quicker. Moving via tables buttons, and if there is headings it is much quicker. I am still learning this and is having a blast. I just started with Discord, so hit me up, my username is, MTDRoddin.
Bruce: how to ping on Discord
Ok, glad my answers helped some of you out. If anyone wishes to ping people or roles on Discord, you type in the "At" symbol, followed by who or what you are trying to ping.
An example: I wish to ping everyone in a channel. I will type in @Everyone
If you drag your finger on mobile after typing in the "at" symbol, there will be a list of names or roles you can ping. Just double tap on the name or role.
Likewise, if you are on a computer, you type in the "at" symbol, and a drop down menu will appear. Type the first few letters of the person and the drop down menu will show you the person. Press enter.
If you are confused, no problem. I'll assist you as best as I can
Yo Crypto!
Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it. Since I posted to you, I did manage to figure it out and get an interview. Now, I'm waiting to hear back whether I've been accepted into an alliance, which reminds me. What's your game name again? Mine is @Cave, or just Cave. I get P&W mixed up with Discord.
Anyway, I'm applying to The Armed PeaceKeepers.
Last, did you ever find a go to tutorial? Or did you just browse around? I seem to remember you saying the latter. I did go through the directives tasks, and now I'm done, so I'm hunting for more.
Oh, and that reminds me: I'd like to try the desktop version, but I can't get an edit box for user name and password on my Mac. There's no indication of any edit boxes, and nothing I try changes that. Because of how much trouble I have trying to log back into things, I'm very reluctant to log off my iPhone P&W app. Do you suppose I might be getting no edit boxes to log in because I'm already logged in on my phone?
Joy!
Bruce
Web version
Try the web browser version. That one works for me. And I'm happy to hear that you got into TAP. Nothing personal, but we enjoy raiding their sister alliance The Fighting Pasifists.
Lol. But you can find me in game by typing in Aztek Empire, or my nation i:

Hope to see you soon in game. Send me a message so I can acknowledge you.
Web version versus IOS app and logging on
Hey Crypto et al,
So I can log in OK on my iPhone app. In fact, I checked the box that says keep me logged in, which might be why I'm being blocked from logging into my MacOS Ventura app and the Safari web version. What happens when I try to log in on my Mac, whether it's the app or the Safari. web site, is that I can't get an edit box to appear for email address and password on the politicsandwar.com or the app log in page. Do I need to uncheck the IOS app keep me logged in checkbox? I'd go ahead and try it, but I've been running into hellish problems on both devices lately, not least of which is focus that keeps flying to the top of the screen.
I've also had a hellish time with passwords. I've had to use forgot password 5 times on discord because auto-fill refused to work, so I finally picked a password I would remember.
Last, Crypto, how do I send you a message? And where do I send you a message in the game or in discord? You can find me at @Cave. My nation is 8343.
Not sure on Mac
Hello,
I have been able to log in on the web just fine.
Rhere should be a button that says send message on the nation page of others.
I've logged on to the desktop version
And everything is now a lot easier.
If you're playing this game and would like to give your input regarding desktop accessibility, let me know. I'm working with Village, who is taking a look at improving MacOS accessibility.
Much better
I see now that MacOS is much better than IOS for this game, although IOS does have a few advantages over MacOS.
I'm working with game staff to make the MacOS version more accessible to the blind. Please let me know here what your first choice would be to improve game accessibility, thanks. Mine are to put in headers and to make edit boxes easier to edit.
Joy!
Bruce
Sorry, not entirely accessible
Hi all,
Just writing to note that Politics and War is not entirely accessible. I'd downgrade it one check. For example, the blind user has to swipe right a lot to get from one section to another. Too often there's no alternative. Happily, game admin are looking into this and intend to add headers where needed. This isn't the case everywhere, but it is the case in certain pages.
Second, the message edit box in the desktop version is impossible to edit. If I write a message to someone, I can't read it back to myself or edit it prior to sending it off. Oddly, this isn't a problem on the IOS version, but it definitely is a problem in MacOS, unless I'm doing something wrong, in which case I hope someone tells me how to do it right.
There are other examples. In my opinion, neither the IOS nor the MacOS versions are completely accessible, but they can be used if the user is willing to put up with the inconvenience and/or limitations.
Joy!
Bruce
P.S. Smile. It's a fun game!
How serious is the pvp?
I was recently enjoying the online game nations at risk before that one went down, so I've been thinking of giving this a try, but I'm hesitant if this is too much of a pvp fest.
Yes, I know there are alliances to join, but that's not really my cup of tea, as I'd rather do things myself than rely on other people, much less get embroiled in clan wars or the like.
I don't mind a little raiding between friends; albeit I'd much rather fight the environment or npcs, but if this is one of those games where you're going to get attacked and pillaged constantly, to the point you can't accumulate resources for building your own stuff and can't actually progress much in the game, other than by joining an uber powerful clan, its probably not my sort of thing.
I have seen multiplayer games like this before, ones where the most powerful players just take potshots at newbies the second the protection runs out, or ones where, even if there is opponent scaling, the attacking becomes such a major focus of the game, with you getting attacked many times each day, there's not room for any other aspects such as building or solo development.
Again, if the game is intended to be really heavy on the wars and alliances rather than the building, trading and expanding into the environment or completing quests and goals, fair enough, obviously different people have different preferences, and I'll freely admit I'm rather an antisocial git when it comes to interacting with others in games, which yes, is somewhat paradoxical in a multiplayer game :D.
So, any over all thoughts?
A few questions
I am wondering, how long does it take to refine aluminum? I have several refineries and mines in my two cities that I have right now. Also, how long does it take to start getting some cash? I’m running out of cash from building things in my cities and in listing soldiers.
Exodia
I've been playing for nearly 3 weeks. As for how much a boxite mine or an aluminum refinery produces, you will find that information after selecting a city in your cities page and then using button on your rotor to get to raw materials or manufacturing, at which you will one finger double tap to open that section. Then, switch to headings on your rotor to find boxite mine or aluminum refinery (depending on whether you opened raw materials or manufacturing), and once you've found the boxite or aluminum heading, swipe right until you pass the destroy button. Below the destroy button is information about costs and production rates and production bonus. 10 boxite or 5 aluminum get a 50% production bonus, so it's best to increase to maximum to get the maximum production bonus for each. However, depending where you are on the world map, you might be able to mine coal or iron or oil, which can be sold for a lot more than aluminum. I wouldn't bother refining aluminum because of that. For raising cash, mining the higher priced raw materials is best. The only other way to make money in the game is to raid other nations a bunch of times all the time. That's it. Either sell raw materials or loot cash from other nations by raiding them. I also recommend keeping your crime rate to zero by ihnstalling police stations, and also keeping down pollution by subway and recycling, so your population will increase faster, which is very important for increasing cash production. Last, nuclear is the most effective form of power. Good luck, and join an alliance!
a few helpful tips
I've been playing this for about a week now and already have 5 cities. In figuring the game out, I already have quite a few tips. 1: , the forums. there are a few guides there, and the wiki has one especially for early game, 1000 infra or less. 2: Raid. Can't say it enough, raids. You can have 5 active offensive wars at a time, so go out there, shrug off your newbie beige color and attack people. at the beginning, there are tons of inactive nations. you can get millions every day by keeping all your warslots filled. 3: Pay attention to your military advisors and watch what they say down below the button to recruit individual units! I'm gonna put here a couple examples from my own cities so you can figure out what I'm talking about. Good work! Out of the 832 active nations capable of attacking you, you have 252.97% more than the average number of Soldiers (21,248). Maintaining a strong standing military is important to discourage other nations from attacking you, and to defend your nation against any who dare declare war. I'm currently, as of this post approaching 75k soldiers, every city has max barracks. so the stratigy that's worked well for me at least at the beginning, as you rank higher you will have to adjust this. but at least cities 1-7 or so, try to make sure you have +50% of the average per city. I have 5 cities, thus, 250% more than average. I do the same thing, though on a slightly less methodical scale for each other unit, given the mor advanced units do cost more. each military unit will give you advice. If you don't pay attention, you get something like this. Your advisors urge you to increase the size of your military! Out of the 832 active nations capable of attacking you, you have -100% less than the average number of Ships (9). Maintaining a strong standing military is important to discourage other nations from attacking you, and to defend your nation against any who dare declare war. in other words, you don't have enough ships. they're not as important early game as soldiers and tanks, but you get the picture. don't grow huge without equally ridiculous military, or you will be wiped out. it seems like common sense, but that's where raid targets come in, they go inactive or don't pay attention to military. 4: Join an alliance. you'll notice most of them require discord. a very few don't, so pick your poison. 5: Don't run out of food! it will take 33% of your income as a starvation bonus, so don't do it. I'm happy to help out or answer questions if folks need it. sorry for the long post but I figure it'd help. one last thing, log in every day. you get a great bonus for the first 2 months, 4m per day once you build up to it.
Raiding question
on the MacOS desktop version of the game, I'm in the armed peacekeepers alliance which uses autolycus, a bot for finding nations to raid, but I haven't gotten it to work. in bot spam I type /raid or /raids and use the item chooser to search for the command match menu for the next step but can't find it. What am I doing wrong?
Hello everyone, I been…
Hello everyone, I been playing this game for a while. Crypto been helping me out quite a bit and I am definally am making some bank. Made a lot of mistakes and got owned twice. lol. But I am seeing there is starting to get more traction to this game. there are accessibility issues and I need to report them. As Bruce said in the messages text field, i would have to tab out and tab back in to get the focus to work to start typing. There are a lot of headings that don't have the html tag it should. But it is doable. Please guys, hit me up on my discord it is MTDRoddin. My nation is this, https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=553804
Feel free to contact me anytime. Thanks guys!
Daniel Hawkins
Hey Daniel. I've made some progress using the IOS version of the game, and I'd be happy to share my info and hear about yours if you like. You can reach me at bbh at mind.net
About game strategy, I was fortunate enough to join a strong alliance (The Fighting Pacifists, fifth strongest in the game). I started playing the game around 3 days before you. In my nation Outlandia, nation id=552943, I now have over 40,000 infrastructure spread over 20 cities. I'll be adding my twenty-first city in a week. smile.
Fun gaming!
