Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms

Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.

If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

I couldn't figure out how to delete this comment so I edited it instead. The few weird bugs are further down this thread along with my sheepish apology.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Sorry to hear about all those problems, but either this is not the appropriate place to post about them, or the thread title should've been broader. Anyway, any findings about iOS? Any fixes or newly-introduced problems? Have the HQ Eloquence variants, for instance, got front teeth with this third beta?

By Enes Deniz on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Yeah, let's help Eloquence chew... I mean speak more conveniently. The grandma and grandpa are normal to have some teeth missing though. Oh by the way, can you also report that certain voices are named differently for whatever reason hidden to me? Why on earth is Malcolm named Jamy on iOS? And why is Glen named Eddy? Not sure about these, but Sandy may have to be named Bobby, while Flo probably has to be named Sandy.

By jay on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I noticed that when you try to exploffe an image with Voiceover, like when someone sends you a picture through text message, you're not able to explore the image using the "explor image" option in the rotor. It's not there. I already submitted feedback to Apple about this, so hopefully in the next update they'll fix it.

By Siobhan on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

My mistake, I think i was just frustrated and misjudged the forum, you're correct, I wouldn't have originally posted in this thread. what I can tell you though is they've broken the context menus when you double tap and hold or hold with one finger, such as updating the app in the app store. I'll be sending the feedback in a moment. again, my apologies.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Are you referring to the context menus that you get on the home screen when you double-tap and hold with one finger on an app? Then have you tried tripple-tapping with one finger instead?

By Siobhan on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Yes, and each of those ideas didn't work. Yet strangely i can now go to the dock again. I think that's my Mom in heaven messing around. Mom, not cool ;) Ok now i am hopelessly confused. either i need a beer, or there is something in the universe that makes me looking like a tool today. The one finger tap and hold did work, the tripple tap did not. I was gonna say I didn't need a beer seeing as it's over 90° out but now? I still will leave the Mom comment in because she'd do something like that. ;)

By Igna Triay on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Will be reporting elequense higher sample rate as well. Like, it sounds good but its... Off, the lower sample rate sounds better.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I’m still on B1 honestly, are the issues with audio messages with unlabelled buttons right now

By Earle on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Like the subject says, moving apps
using the rotor is completely broken now. If you drag an app, there are no options in the rotor to
drop the app. I haven't tested moving apps the old way. I'm going to do that tomorrow

By Earle on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

There is a little improvement with audio messages in iMessage. You are now told that there is an audio message, but the length is not given like it used to be. I will be reporting this.

By Dennis Long on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Dominic and all the point is to report bugs!!!!! If you aren't willing to do that then you shouldn't be on a beta!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beta 3 is out. You should be upgrading as each beta comes and report bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By John W. Hess on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Good day. I am just downloading Beta 3 so haven't tried this yet. But, during 1 and 2 I have had lots of problems using the feedback app. When submitting new feadback swiping across the screen only gets me to one of the operating systems and I have to swipe up with 3 fingers to get to the rest. This also happens in other places where swiping wil only go so far and then I hear the thunk. Thought? I am using an iPhone se3. Is this happening with other phones or just this device? Thanks.

By tunmi13 on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

TLDR
The point of an Alpha, Beta, or any early testing software or hardware, is that you are told offhand, it will most likely have bugs and issues. The minute you install software, or obtain a piece of hardware, you've already agreed to this statement. You have pledged that you have fully understood what it means to test drive whatever it is that you are test driving.
With that being said, if there are complaints or hateful speeches being concocted as part of being on a beta, I strongly recommend you stop testing, and downgrade. And I don't mean this to be harsh, it's just factual. They literally tell you, hey. We're not responsible if anything happens, so proceed with caution. Backup your data, install it on a different device, be prepared for the worst. However, it seems that not many people get that memo, and it is rather disappointing.

By tunmi13 on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

So something that sort of fixed itself I think, at least for me, was a bug where if you left the Messages app and then came back to reply or send a message, the keyboard would vanish, and the dictate button stopped working. Then you could not use braille screen input either. But I think Beta 3 fixed that, at least on my end.
Edit: After some looking, am I the only one who has a very interesting bug right now where the search field in the conversations list is missing? Immediately after you flick right from the Compose button, instead of landing on the search field, in my case, I land on my pinned contacts.

By Levi Gobin on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Here are my findings with iOS 17 beta 3.
first, eloquence now has a new rate multiplier option in the per voice settings. This will allow eloquence to go a lot faster.
It doesn't have an exact WPM count like Alex, but you can see it in percentages. This is really cool.
Now, higher sample rate variants of eloquence are off by default now, which means eloquence on the Apple Watch now sounds a lot better.
and another thing, listen to how bad the Sandy variant of eloquence sounds? it appears to be broken.
The OS is a lot more stable. Things are running a lot smoother, but there are still issues of course, because it's a beta.
I will report more as I find new things.

By tunmi13 on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I was going to say, Sandy does not sound like Sandy at all. I thought it was because I messed something up in my Eloquence settings but it looks like a public issue.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I’m just waiting for the all go ahead until the audio messages problem is fixed completely
And, here’s my thing
The reason people may not take this one seriously is because, they may not have another device to test them on but they want to test it on their main daily driver
Which, by the way for the people who are just starting to test, may not be such a good idea, as there may be unexpected glitches in the system which might affect your usage of your device
I’m definitely not going to say that I’m a veteran when it comes to testing, but I’ve tested iOS 14, some iOS 15 beaters, Windows 11 and iOS 14,
I have also tested android 14,
Don’t test it on your daily driver unless you really have to or want to, I have had no bad experiences that really pissed me off, but you know, stuff happens in the hardware or software of that developer previous which may force to downgrade
also, I don’t think people read the warning when installing more, because who the heck reads terms and conditions more
Nobody probably well at least I don’t
Sometimes I don’t have the time or the patience read five Page documents explaining gibberish which I don’t even understand
LOL
but yeah, glad to know the messages issue has been fixed

And if the issues that JHON was talking about in the Feedback assistant app or what’s going on, then it’s Lucky I’m not reporting anything
But my other two friends, Josh and Michael I don’t know if Josh reports bugs but I know Michael does
Anyway, yeah. Just, be careful when testing these stuff people

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

So back in June when I first installed iOS 17, I reported to this community about an issue with high-quality speech voices including Siri voices where speech would just randomly stop and I would have to turn off VoiceOver and turn it back on again
Well People it seems that it’s now hit compact voices
I mean, it’s not that annoying especially since I have the accessibility shortcut but I’m definitely gonna report this
Does anybody know if this happens on the second or third beta of iOS 17, I’m still on the one here, don’t really wanna upgrade that yet until I read what bugs on you so I can try and find them and report them myself

By Levi Gobin on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

the issue of voices lagging is fixed in b3.
Also, it isn't recommended to stay on a single beta for that perps. I have not had thiat issue in b2 so I would recommend updating.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I’m pretty sure I can stay on this for a little longer,
I really do want to wait until the audio message problem gets completely fixed because, you never know when somebody sends me an audio message and voice doesn’t tell me that it’s a seven minute audio message and I only find out until I finish listening to the audio message that it was a seven minute audio message
That is something I, really don’t want LOL

By Dennis Long on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Dominic you are not helping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been a tester for years. I had things like the app store crash when updating apps ETC. I didn't run and say oh I'm not upgrading until this is resolved I upgraded in two weeks. I've also been a private alpha tester for Nuance talks when it was a thing. I think you need to learn how to test. If you aren't prepaired to test properly then don't be on the beta. You aren't helping anyone by half way testing.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I’ve tested iOS 14, 15, android 14, Windows 11, iPadOS 15, macOS 14, and all of that
The worst experience I had was when my Mac randomly stopped working with all Internet features yesterday which I’m actually gonna report because that’s just outrageous
but I do have experience, so you are incorrect
You don’t know me, I’m just gonna say that

By Dennis Long on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

First the Galaxy is a S21 running android 13 not 12. Second you might be a Casual tester but that is all you are. You don't install updates to see if things have broken or gotten better. in my opinion people who aren't going to test each and every beta shouldn't be on betas!!!!!! Without good and proper testing we can't expect things to get better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

You may have experience in betas
But I do too
And don’t say that I’m a casual tester when I literally find things on the daily
Not only I use every single part of beta software on daily drivers
Two what comes around comes around
Good day all

By Dennis Long on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

This is my last comment to you but stop and think about it!!!! How do you find new bugs when you refuse to upgrade the beta to the latest release? You can't.

By Dennis Long on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

You aren't testing you are taking the lazy man's way.

By AnonyMouse on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Member of the AppleVis Editorial Team

Okay everyone, let's shift our focus back to the main purpose of this forum post. We're here to share and talk about the bugs we've found in the latest iOS 17 Beta 3.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

It looks like I’m not the only one who’s having issues with the battery health maximum capacity going down really fast
Definitely gonna report this to Apple

By Ash Rein on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

There is a issue where dialpad accessibility is lost.

1. make phone call.

2. While on phone call, leave dialpad screen and go to homescreen, open different app.

3. go back to dial pad screen (using iPhone 14 pro max so use dynamic island).

4. At times, the dialpad becomes inaccessibile.

The only way to restore accessibility is to turn voiceover off and turn it back on. This seems like its been around from Beta 1. I hope it can be resolved through continued feedback.

Note: This issue doesn't happen every single time. I am unsure what is triggering it. Right now, it seems random.

By Holger Fiallo on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I saw that iOS 17 now has start tone. It is in accessibility. It suppose to work for all phones. Is that working well for those of you who are brave people who test the beta? I will install it in my iPad 9 in the 4 beta.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Alright everybody, I have made my first bug report, and added a screen recording of me going into the battery health settings
Here is the feedback identifier
Apple feedback assistant, feedback identifier for my report

By Dennis Long on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Where is it found in accessibility?

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

If there was a feature about I would know
If there was a feature like that I would know about it, because I checked 9 to 5 Mac on the daily
Where did you get this Roma from? Because I can’t find any stand-up sound options settings menu I meant start up

By Ash Rein on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

It is very important to use the betas in a way where you are willing to see what is not working. IF you are more interested in receiving audio messages consistently, Beta may not be the best way to have that.

You of course can use any device as desired. However, the point of testing is to not wait to update. If a engineer is using your Radars, sys diags, it will be important to always be on the latest Beta. Not doing so can confuse the issue and actually delay a fix.

Using your daily driver is not a good idea. Unless you are willing to put up with the consequences.

Using the internet is not meant to justify a post. It is about reading about how others are seeing the issue and if you can see it happening the same way. Knowing that a bug exists because of the "internet" actually takes away from everyone who is working hard to find and report them.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Others may just prefer to post their bugs on some forum rather than directly report them to Apple, which would be their preference and problem, or they might also have reported them to Apple as well. In any case, claiming you also report them on their behalf and actually test the betas while you don't, is really immoral. And whining about being unable to listen to audio messages is far from being appropriate if you truly intend to become and remain a beta tester. You're supposed to update to the latest beta as new updates come out, in order to find out whether the bugs were fixed or you'll come across new ones. Even stable versions of iOS do have annoying bugs, but bugs that you didn't have on stable versions or a previous beta, and do have on the current beta version, should not prevent you from updating to the latest beta just because you have these bugs and they make it difficult for you to listen to audio messages, which should be considered a daily task. Either do not test beta software on your primary device at all, or stop whining. Looking at how you post on this forum, I highly doubt you will be able to send coherent and clear reports to Apple on the bugs you encounter, even if you do happen to do so. So complaining about bugs is okay and something we already do, as we have already been talking about how we and also sighted users have been getting more and more bugs over the recent years, but if you're gonna keep on whining about being unable to perform daily tasks with beta software, then just don't do it at all, which means you shouldn't pretend to do it either. I have also been asking about iOS 17 betas here but have not installed any myself, not because I can't perform daily tasks but because I never got any responses to any of my reports back while testing iOS 16. And if I do decide to install a beta of iOS 17 soon, I will already be expected to acknowledge in the very beginning that by installing beta software on my primary device, I'll be responsible for all the crashes, data losses and inconveniencies I face. No one forced you to install beta 1, but you did assume the responsibility to update to beta 2 and beta 3 as they came out, as this is already what you were and are supposed to do if you claim you're a beta-tester.

By Holger Fiallo on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Setting, accessibility and audio. You can turn it on there. I think is for all.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I don’t see any audio options for a start-up sound and audio/visual

By Holger Fiallo on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

That is why I ask.

By Enes Deniz on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Yeah, just as those App Store reviews where you have a link to update them once you get a response from the developer, I might actually want to update my rating about Apple from 2 stars to something like 3 and a half stars. Don't know if these were reported or suggested by others as well, but I'm glad to have been reading your posts about features being added to these betas one after the other, which once were things I had been suggesting to Apple through the Feedback Assistant app. Now I might even go download this beta 3 but too bad it requires something like 15 GB to install and doesn't even prompt me to temporarily uninstall some apps so that the installation can take place, unlike stable versions that asked me if I wanted to temporarily uninstall some apps to free up some space.

By Igna Triay on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

I'm confused about the watch beta, as I haven't gotten the new developer beta when I check the watch updates.

By Ash Rein on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

Long-standing issue where spacing twice and period not being announced. It's actually a small bug. But has been around for years. It's literally been fixed. Glad to see it.

By Dominic on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

My next addition to my iPhones will be an iPhone 14 pro most likely in 2025, that’s when I’m able to upgrade next unless next year I can trade in one of my phones for an iPhone 14
Why not the 14 pro Max, well I don’t really care for the battery and enhancements considering I’m near charger all the time, and I don’t really care for the bigger screen
All I want is a phone that will work, Se with all of my other devices properly
And have good enough security and performance
Also, I’ve had issues that I’ve discussed that I’ve encountered an iOS 17 Ivan and all of those issues iOS 17 is amazing
I’m pretty sure to all people who aren’t beta testing, you’ll be pretty happy, in case of course things skyrocket from beta four and beyond
I’ll upgrade to beta free tonight, if I find out the beta four contains really serious bugs that people should know about that might impact the official release of iOS 17 then I’ll probably downgrade to iOS 16.5.1 since that literally be the only option I have left if I decide to downgrade since Apple stop signing iOS 16.5 com but right now, I’m not planning on downgrading
But I have iCloud backups of my iOS 16, and I’ll also create an iTunes backup of iOS 17
Anyway, back to the point of discussion
The start-up charm really sounded amazing, I really wish that I could have to set up charm on my iPhone SE 22

By Daniel Angus MacDonald on Friday, July 14, 2023 - 16:46

to install watchOS 10 betas, use the watch app on your iPhone, and go to settings>general>software update>beta updates. turn beta updates off. go back to the previous screen to beta updates again, and turn on watchOS 10 developer beta. go back again, and you will see the latest beta. Apple wrote to all beta testers in the feedback assistant app, explaining this. it is under apple beta software program what they wrote.

If you speak German, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that there are an additional two new Siri voices. I’ve not used them because I don’t speak German, but listening to the voices, they sound just a tiny bit more natural compared to the previous ones.
If you speak German, let me know what you think of the new series voices.
