I'm a bit confused about the differences between GoodMaps Ex;Explore and GoodMaps Outdoors.
My impression was that GoodMaps Explore has the functionality to navigate at indoor venues (where available) and could also be used for outdoor navigation, whereas the GoodMaps Outdoors could only be used for outdoor navigation.
So my question is, why would someone install GoodMaps Outdoors if the GoodMaps Explore has both functionalities? Does the GoodMaps Outdoors app offer more flexibility or features for navigating outdoors than does the GoodMaps Explore app?
As long as we're on the topic, would one of these GoodMaps apps be better than using Google Maps or Apple Maps for someone using Voiceover?
Thanks for any suggestions and/or feedback.

Difference between GoodMaps Outdoors and GoodMaps Explore
Hi, Pete:
Perhaps this link is of use:
https://www.goodmaps.com/support/when-should-i-use-good-maps-explore-and-when-should-i-use-good-maps-outdoors
I cannot speak from personal experience as, where I live, I get GoodMaps Outdoors only.
Still a bit confused
Thanks for that link. I actually saw that link before but it doesn't really say whether or not the GoodMaps Explore app also contains the outdoor features and user interface/settings that the GoodMaps Outdoors app does. So I still don't know whether I should install both apps or just the GoodMaps Explore app.
Well, I guess since it is free, I can check it out. They should make it more clear what the differences between the two apps really is.
Thanks.

This link has some…
This link has some additional information about the differences: https://www.goodmaps.com/apps/good-maps-outdoors
After some introductory information, it explains explains, “ For the avid outdoor traveler, GoodMaps Outdoors has comprehensive features whereas GoodMaps Explore has basic outdoor features with accurate indoor features“ and goes on the list some of those features.
Re: Additional info and link
Thanks for the additional link.
Sounds like the Good Maps Outdoors app has a lot more features and customizations that can be made when used for outdoor travel compared to the Good Maps Explore app. Although Good Maps Explore can be used outdoors, it seems like this really is best for indoor use and venues that have been pre-marked up.
So I guess there might be a reason to download both apps assuming one has venues in their area that might be marked up for Good Maps Explore.
Thanks. Hope this helps others.

You got the point!!!
Hey Pete!
You got the point
correct goodMaps Explorer is indoor Maps
goodMaps outdoor outdoor Maps
And Also none of them provide TTS engine.
VoiceOver is going to read the information which means you have to have unlocked the iPhone screen, hold your iPhone most of the time on your hands lol battery dreams fast lol
I never understand the idea of this project
I would like to see real TTS engine in the features updates.
living in California the only indoor maps provided is CSUN at Anaheim.
Google Maps give you TTS engine
Re: Thanks for feedback
thanks for your feedback. Good to know about the battery drain. Also, can't believe that it won't speak when the phone is locked.
Too bad they didn't integrate these two very similar apps so that one doesn't have to switch back and forth.
