Hi
Today I’m gonna talk about my experience with the Mac why I left Mac but why I still have a Mac
What got me over to the Mac
On August 2021 I got a 2012 MacBook Pro it had four big bites of ram and a 512 GB SSD
It was running macOS 10.13, I was an extreme nervous of the Mac then and forgot my password, so I decided to go onto the recovery mode reading an Apple support document on the way through
The Apple support document never told me that when I reset the start-up desk which meant erasing the whole bloody thing including the operating system that I had to reinstall it, so once I was done erasing the desk once it said this was done I left the recovery window hoping that my computer would go back to the set up screen
Oh God was wrong
I had just not only nuked the Mac drive but I had nuked the start-up disc as well which means it couldn’t properly start up, so there goes a trip to the computer shop to get the hard drive fixed and install macOS 10.14
Let’s just say when I reset my computers for recovery mode I’m more careful now
Not that MacBook is getting not only Windows installed but an upgrade of the memory, thank goodness
I got a 2017 MacBook Air on 24 January this year, which surprisingly was right after I had got my one MacBook Air from a music place, I would take that in one MacBook Air with me to school but my music teacher wouldn’t let me because she thought I would break it or something, I didn’t understand what all the rockets about saying as I haven’t even broke any screens or anything at all, sure I may have nuclear bombs in the tire set up drives by accident but Hot dam
So I installed Windows 10 on my 2017 Mac for schoolwork, overall it was a crappy experience, the battery life thought it was awful, it was Lagi, and all that jazz
Finally I decided to make the switch, I pulled out my old HP laptop and reset it
Resetting it was a massive mistake
Not knew how to put it into recovery mode and reset it through the recovery mode but I decided to reset it for the settings app, and you had enabled narrator on up control Windows enter but narrator didn’t turn on, well at least it didn’t provide any audible feedback line so I had to wait today until my support worker arrived
Turns out, it looked like there was an audio driver wasn’t really made for the operating system, but there wasn’t a driver specifically for that Windows version, so my support worker had to delete the entire audio drivers and reinstall them all over again
Luckily he knew what to do when it came to technology, bless him the poor guy com we were doing like an hour just trying to get the audio fixed yesterday
That’s the reason that’s fully stopping me from going to windows completely, what if I reset that computer again and what if that driver issue pops up again, and what if I can’t get support workers again because of funding? What if that issue happens whilst I don’t have workers that actually know how to help me
My God somebody would need to save me real quick
What are your thoughts on this whole situation, what’s your Mat experience, have you ever switched to Windows then back to Mac, have you ever gotten the windows computer but are you going to permanently switch temporarily switch or use both operating systems
Tell me your thoughts in the common section below

Hell on a cracker, kid
I swear, you get yourself into so many jams without thinking of the consequences, you can totally screw up a one car funeral. Having said that, you have to learn from your mistakes but also be willing to really trust yourself and abilities when it comes to technology of all kinds. Now my experience is simple. I'd had a name brand comp desktops for years, I'm not naming it, and got sick of needing help. Bear in mind I had a brother who and still is, the "What'd you F*** up this time?" attitude. My latest laptop was out of warranty and nothing I found was good enough so I took the plunge and went to a Macbook pro, the white plastic model. well the first one didn't last long as after buying Apple care I was chatting when a misplaced and poorly timed elbow sent a full beer into the guts of it. granted they didn't cover it, and I bought another one. That one lasted a few years, then another one, and this is now my fourth one. I have absolutely little patience for those who decide if I can't do something on the Mac, let me go back to Windows because it's what I am comfortable doing. I jumped in face first, learning about everything from I think leopard on up. Now i'm not at all saying Mac is better then windows, I bought a larger laptop and didn't play around because I didn't like Windows ten. It's an older one so I'll throw it out and get a new one if I want to try again. All I'll give you is the following advice. before you do anything really think about what it is you want and Google the absolute hell out of it before even starting out. Read every article, forum post, not just on places like this blindness community, but sighted websites as well. I'd say my one downfall for the Mac is there's very little real App development for the Mac in a lot of areas in the belief that if 99% of the people use windows, forget the other systems out there. I'm not saying I expect a counterpart to every app available, but a hey Windows does this, here's a comparable experience on Mac and Lenox? sorry can't spell that. Keep learning Dominic and don't think you always need a support worker. Patience grasshopper and you can calm down and really apply yourself.
I could’ve sorted that HP laptop out myself but
The audio driver had been so jacked up after the reset that we had to delete it as I said, and I wouldn’t have been able to delete that audio driver since well there wasn’t any audio
Fingers it was blurring out in error code 110 and I was like oh come on one name is Tom Smith does this have to shop
But hey, at least it’s working now, except for the fact I have to keep it on a charger unless I only want the battery last two hours
Long live my MacBook Air M1 though for design, and the fact that I can make music using GarageBand really easily with it
Well done on the spelling.
Hey Dominic, I noticed a lot less errors in your post :)
I've tried a mac but just couldn't get the hang of it so went back to windows.
My mac
My mac is broken now. I wasn’t smart and faled to make a boot disk, that would’ve solved my problem. I was talking with a sinior adviser at Apple, and he told me that third-party harddrives have problems. I was getting a curnal panic upon reboot. So I did wha5 the adviser suggested and formatted. the mac, making sure that it was completely formatted, removing everything including the recovery partition So there I was reinstalling Monterey, and made the mistake of restarting douring download. I didn’t hear clicking, so thought the mac wasn’t downloading Monterey after all. So now, i have a computer with a blank SSD. When I get it back, I am installing SAnoma through open core legasy patcher, as I cannot aford a new mac, but still want to beta test. I think the best thing to do is run windows through bootcamp on an Intel Mac, that way you have the best of both worlds.
Used to be on Windows...
Hi again. I used Windows for several years, and liked it for the most part. I'm not going to discuss my experience on there too much since this is an Apple-related website, but for me Windows had its advantages and disadvantages. I will say that I did not much care for paid software upgrades/updates, if you know what I mean. Think JFW. Or to be more accurate, my parents didn't much care for this. That is primarily why during Christmas 2013 I made the journey over to the "dark side". As most if not all of you know from my previous posts on here, it's been fun. Apple is a great company with lots of ambition.
Great stuff
I'm saying no more. Love this. How many devices does this geezer have? I'm with your music teacher I'm afraid, dominic. I would worry you'd break a device, or else permanently lock yourself out of it. You know, the best bit of this story is you say you've learnt your lesson and are never going to put something into recovery mode, or reset it, or whatever, only to confess a few sentences later that this is precisely what you did do! I got a MacBook Pro in 2011 and liked it, but ultimately had to be honest with myself and say I preferred Windows for productivity. So back to windows I went, and here I am.
