Introduction toMicrosoft's Bing: Chat With AI & GPT-4 iOS App
By AppleVis, 17 June, 2023
In this episode, Thomas Domville introduces and demonstrates Microsoft's Bing: Chat with AI & GPT-4 iOS app. Thomas walks through the app's interface, demonstrates some examples of how Bing can be utilized, and shares tips to get the best results.
I’ve been playing with Bing chat AI for the past day or so. One thing I found out is that it does not give full access to the capabilities of GPT -4. I asked it if it could write a software program for me and it said that it could not. I asked it if GPT chat could write a software program for me and it said that it could. I asked it “what can chat GPT do that you can’t?“ And it said that it preferred not to continue this conversation. I think the input control was dimmed out.
The chat history only seems to show me what I did today. I did the chat about writing software last night, so I couldn’t access it. I also can’t access the information on fixing my impact sprinkler, Which wasn’t too useful although it did confirm that the filter was accessed through the hole where the hose connects. it said that it could not describe the picture in one of the examples, but it did give me steps to do what the picture was supposed to demonstrate.
It doesn’t remember too much about your query in the same chat. For example, I told it that my sprinkler was connected to a hose, but in every subsequent response it presumed it to be part of a sprinkler system. When I asked it if something applied to me if I had one on a hose, it apologized for the confusion and answered my question.
I find it interesting that it can’t tell me much about its own interface. I asked it what the Lottie automation button and the stop responding button were and it could not tell me.
I told it I couldn’t find the chat history and asked how to find it. it gave me instructions for the website.
I then said, “I am using the Bing app on iOS with voiceover. from the ask Bing input control I swipe right successively and get the following  items:  submit, chat history, the message of my most recent chat, Moore, profile. If I double tap more I get rename, feedback, Delete.“
It responded:
To view chat history in Bing app on iOS with voiceover, you can follow these steps:
1. Open the Bing app on your iOS device.
2. Tap on the "Ask Bing" input control.
3. Swipe right successively until you get to the "Chat History" item.
4. Double-tap on the "Chat History" item to view your recent chats with the chatbotÂą.
So it didn’t tell me anything that I had already not told it, end it didn’t tell me what I wanted to know, but I will hope that it understood that I was using VoiceOver and at least generated directions based on that. after you double tap chat history, you have to go backwards to find the history. I think I didn’t find it initially because I was expecting to see last nights work.
I got GPT to do me a poem and not sure what happened, but when using the add last spoken content to the clipboard (3 finger quadruple tap) and pasting it using the rota into the correct place I wanted, I thought it was all fine only to find that the poem seems to appear in almost every app I open now as I swipe through, is there away to clear the clipboard or to sort what I've done wrong? Apart from this love the Chat GPT app.
Bing can definitely write software programs in a variety of languages.
One has to be specific and descriptive when asking questions in order to get the desired results.
For example, rather than asking "Can you write a software program?", one should ask something more specific like "Write a software program in Python that can be used to add books to a collection including the book title, author, and summary".
There is an art to asking questions. In fact many of the AI engineers keep saying that one of the new jobs that will open up when these chat bots become more ubiquitous is the person who is an expert at creating questions and interacting iteratively with the bots.

Until you run into the…
Until you run into the ethics of the AI.
For example it won't write you a kodi addon to access dodgy websites.
It goes on and on about copyright.
It also won't write you a program to grab fanfiction stories.
The Kody thing I can understand, but fanfiction?
