iOS and iPadOS
Hello all, I've been watching this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZGOzomWBAU&lc=UgxLGl3VKILka_Rqeth4AaABAg.9ps1v_BwDhF9ps62BQtwxf&ab_channel=MDF0207 and acording to the reply I recieved from my comment, it's been recorded on an iPhone 14 Pro max. I have an iPhone SE 3rd, gen, and can only get mono when recording video. I can't go to control centre when in the camera app because it takes up the entire screen and there is no status bar. Can anyone give me more info about the wide spectrem mode, how it works, whether the SE 3 even has the same number of Omni mics as the 14 pro max. Is this feature not available in apps such as voice memos? or am I missing the obvious. Thank you in advance. Regards: Melissa Cox.

Hello,
Is anyone available to answer this?
Did I post this in the wrong forum?
Thank you.

Sorry I don’t know the definite answer to your question but as you’ve had no answers and you are still looking I’ll tell you what I know and what I think. As far as I know stereo recording is only available in some iPhone and iPad models. I think they need at least 3 mics for some reason. My guess is setup for stereo recording is different to setup for active noise suppression. I know the iPhone S E 3 has 2 mics for noise cancellation in calls but maybe the orientation isn’t ideal for stereo recording. Maybe do a google search for recording stereo sound on iPhone S E 3. There is obviously the chance that its perfectly capable and Apple are just limiting the capability to give some differentiation to their model lines.

Hi all,
Just to clarify, The videos app will record in stereo, but the voice memos app will not.
That being said, if I plug in a Sennheiser Ambio Smart Headset, I will get a stereo file with two channels of binaural audio.

Hello,
Try TW Recorder. However, don't disable iOS processing in settings, or else it won't record in stereo.
After recording starts, tap select input and select either the front or the back microphone. The bottom microphone records in mono.
However, definitely use ambeo smart headset whenever you think you can, because the automatic noise reduction done by the stereo recording of iPhone is going to ruinn some kind of recordings. Also its left-to-right range isn't wide enough.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was after. Why this isn't built into the voice memmos app as noone uses mono anymore unless there recording a voiceover (Really being givven a chois is much more sensible) I have no idea...
How voice over friendly is the app?
Is there any ability to ajust gain?
What about using all three mics? (Never mind...certenly not...)
How about monetoring?
To be honest, that's my biggest gripe with almost all of the recording apps I use, and it's really annoying, all dedicated recorders can do thiss?
PS:
A dedicate audio techy who know's what they're talking about! Fantastic!...Finally!
