I will be switching from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 14 Pro in less than a week and I know that doing so is probably going to be quite the learning curve.

Anyone have any good resources for someone like me to make this learning curve less steep? Also, any resources out there detailing all the new features that I will get with this switch? I’d preferably prefer free resources.

I upgraded from an SE (which is basically an 8) to a 13 last year. VoiceOver gives hints about some of the new gestures, so it wasn't as difficult a transition as I thought it would be.

The main thing you should know before starting is that you now need to triple-press the side button to turn on VoiceOver.

Face ID is pretty reliable and easy to set up. VoiceOver will guide you through it. It fails sometimes if your phone is at an odd angle, but touch ID failed more often for me. You may want to get into the habit of putting your phone face-down on the desk/table so it doesn't try to unlock when you get notifications.

Because there is no home button, you now swipe up about an inch from the bottom of the screen, starting with your finger lined up with the charge port. Swiping up slightly further will open the app switcher. you get both audible and haptic feedback as you do this, with differently-pitched tones when your finger is in the correct place for home and app switcher. I found it fairly easy to get used to the new gestures. If you don't though, you can always assign custom gestures in VoiceOver settings. I didn't assign anything for these, but I don't like having to swipe from the top of the screen to access control and notification center, so I assigned four-finger swipe up and down to open them.

Powering off the phone is now done by holding the side button and volume up.

Siri is now activated by holding the side button. Similarly, the accessibility shortcut has changed to triple-pressing the side button, and you now take a screenshot by pressing the side button and volume up.

When you confirm a payment or an app install, the phone will tell you to "double click to install." This actually means "double press the side button."

I'm probably missing something, but that should get you started.

Save money and just get the 13 pro or pro max. Check with your phone company. Verizon gave me a nice deal after issues with accessibility with signing the contract. I got $300 off.

You’ll get used to it quickly, the first comment covers almost everything. I upgraded from an iPhone 7 to a 14, and so far I’m not having any issues. Besides the bug with dictation that rewrites everything twice.
