Hiring the Researcher
I had no trouble doing this on my iPad running iPad OS 16, but my partner, on an iPhone 7 running iOS 15, can't seem to get back into the screen to actually hire the researcher.
is it a text games or ..
is it a text base game?
gathering iron
does anyone know if there's a faster way of gathering iron? I know it gathers only 0.10 per gather, but it takes forever and feels like I'm not getting any iron at all, or do I use my create iron bar and stuff to make more iron? it shows up under conjuration.
hiring researchers and getting more iron
to hire more researchers you double tap the menu in the top left corner then select research and if you explore by headings you'll be able to hire the researchers. if the menu doesn't open, close the app in the app switcher and open it again.
to get more iron the faster way when possible is to use the create iron bar spell indeed. it uses your mana but give much better results. later on in the game you'll have more ways to get iron.
this is a text only game.
Difficult to Use
I strongly disagree with the app rating as it currently stands. I find the interface extremely! clunky! Very few controls have control type labels, making it difficult to know what is or isn't clickable. Some controls have double labels like "help help" or "options options". It appears some screens load silently with no notification they've loaded, and options that aren't applicable still appear on some screens. This is clearly a work in progress and I'm contacting the developer, as I have no idea what to do after selecting my school and element. I'd try the Android version to see if it's more accessible, but I don't have an Android device right now. I hope the accessibility continues to improve on both platforms.
Agree with Chris. Let us…
Agree with Chris. Let us know when it's fully baked; thanks.
can play on braille display?
This game sounds very interesting. Can it be slayed fully using a braille display with the speech muted on my phone?
Storage Limit Lock
I've built as many warehouses and monstruariums as I can, but can't get my storage high enough to build a vault that can hold over 261K coins. Is it even possible to get up there?
Braille display and storage limit
I'm pretty sure most of the game can be played with a braille display. However, during combat, it may be necessary to use the touch screen with one hand, and read the display with the other, if that's possible for you.
Regarding the storage limit, There will be options for increasing your storage after you complete the third level of the basement. Good luck!
Battles
Can someone please explain to me how to fight? It seems everything is on auto pilot. It doesn’t seem there is something I can do to influence the battle outcome. Besides everything happened so fast.
Thank you.
re: battles
hey! in order to fight you must use every item and spell possible, as well as the help of your apprentices.
what happens is that the battle happens automaticaly if you set all the acqions to your apprentices, because all their actions drain your mana as well.
but for example if you let them enchant the mana spouts and geysers and cast the other spells in the quickbar you will be able to influence the outcome of battle in every second, such as using potions at the right time, etc.
i'm sure you'll get the hang of it.
just be warned the last update fixes a lot of bstuff, but the enemy attacks is not read anymore due to a bug. it's already being fixed at this moment and a quick fix is comimg.
you will be able to track your health as well as the enemy
2 more questions please
How do I hire apprentices? Currently I have 1/3. My dorm is LVL 2. I don’t have the same problem with researchers. The button to higher them is clear.
I also can’t seem to figure out how to put spells on my bar? Adding them to my favorites doesn’t do the trick.
Thanks a lot for the help.
reply
hey! regarding apprentices, once you build a dorm, you can use the apprentice to automaticaly cast a spell using the plus button in the apprentice screen found in the menu.
the more apprentices you have added to a certain spell, the less time it takes for them to cast it.
regarding the quickbar, you can add spells and items to it while in combat. just use the inventory and spells menus at the bottom and if you expand some spell or item info you can add it to the quickbar.
apprentice loadouts are a great way to speed up the process of getting more coins and enchanting stuff while outside combat, so you don't have to cast spells often.
while in combat, you can have a different loadout so they can cast heal and regen for example, as well as enchanting mana spouts and geysers.
Thank you so much
This was very helpful.
new release, many fixes for voiceover
hey everyone! there's a new update available fixing the accessibility bugs.
the attacks of the enemy are now read properly, so you can discover their pattern and use the magic tap to pause and plan your next item or spell to use!
as i said the developer is always listening and wants to make it a better game for us everyday! i'm so happy!
changelog:
New features and changes: - Accessibility: The "Z" shaped gesture to "escape" now works to exit the current menu Bug fixes: - When a critical error happens in the app, show an error message with the possibility to export your save for further support rather than crash entirely - Fix equipment set buttons not working well - Accessibility: Fix enemy attacks not being announced while an event modal is open - Accessibility: Fix HP bar reading long numbers - Other minor fixes
Water Wand
The developer is awesome! I sent him a screen recording about 3 or so days ago and he's already pushed out two versions that vastly improve accessibility. From what I hear, he's also trying to make the Android version as accessible as he can which is even better!
How do I get water speck to create the water wand? I can't figure that out.
re: water wand
hey Chris! it's cool that you're helping with suggestions to the developer as well, the game is much better indeed in terms of navigation and small details.
I guess you can get the item to craft the wand by killing a enemy that uses water attacks. so there's a chance it can drop when you kill it.
Cherry ent
How on earth did you kill this thing guys?
re: cherry ent
hey! this boss is hard indeed, but you're managing to progress so much, congrats!
the first time i killed him i was wearing the golden armor and sword, and i believe i was using the cloak of regeneration or the large shield. otherwise try to experiment with other equipment sets, such as the elder rob:.
be sure to have some potions to boost your stats, like speed, regeneration, strength, defense, etc. craft a few of these because once the effect starts to fade you can drink it again. with the quick bar or the inventory in the battle screen, remember you can use spells and items while the game is paused with the magic tap.
also be sure to have the antidot spell in the quick bar to use after he cast poison. physical augment is also helpful. letting your apprentices heal and regen you will also help.
keep trying, i'm sure you can get there.
if needed you can pause and plan your next move after each attack.
as a last resort, if you feel you're not powerful enough retiring for the first time might be an option, since you can get a lot of bonus depending on how many story events you've completed. the retirement screen will show your bonus.
you might be able to get to where you currently are in less than a day with the new life. but you should play until you really can't progress anymore.
good luck!
I am having an issue…
I am having an issue upgrading some buildings. In order to increase the warehouse I need over 9000 stone but I only have max capacity of 8850 stone. So how can I upgrade the warehouse to get more stones to build the warehouse?
warehouse
you'll need another building that can store stone. you'll unlock it after killing a boss.
spoiler!!!
it's the monstruarium
Getting past basement floor one
How to get down to the next floor or beat the boss on the first floor of the basement. I have selected the boost to bring my head points up to 180 and I have a locked the boss and hit attack boss but I always seem to get defeated and the move to the next floor is grayed out. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, so any advice of how to do that using voiceover would be appreciated.
basement floor one
are you wearing something on your body? you need to craft some protection and peraps a better weapon and health potions if you can craft them to be able to use it during combat, you can pause combat with the magic tap.
also read the help for combat, it will teach you how this part of the game works.
good luck
Combat questions
So I do have gear on. I do have some potions. I do not see in the directions how you pause combat which would be very helpful because I'm very confused of what's happening because everything happens so fast and with each attack it takes me off of checking, my current hit points or finding the enemies hit points. You indicated that there's some gesture With your fingers to pause? What is the tester? Also, do you have recommendations of an order to do things. I change my gear first, then what my apprentices are doing to be more combat focused, then I enter the dungeon. And since I can't pause, I go back to the inventory screen and just every 30 seconds, try to spam a Health potion to bring my hit points with the vitality potion up to 280. But I'm still getting defeated. So any suggestions would be helpful.
pausing combat
to pause combat you'll need to be at the exploration screen, then double tap with two fingers at the same time, this voiceover gesture is called magic tap.
nou can pause and unpause it by using this same gesture. then i recommend using health potions to instantly recover hp, because the vitality one just increases your max hp for a short time.
you can add items to the quick bar as well, so to add a health potion go in the exploration screen, tap inventory, health potion, expand and just add it to the quick bar for fast access to it
Cherry Ent
How do I defeat the cherry ent at the end of the living forest? I'm using the silver axe, golden plate armor, and large shield and have up to 400 HP with physical augmentation and other boosts from upgrades active. I can't kill it even though I use tidal wave and constantly heal myself. It gets down to less than 1000 health, heals itself, then starts dealing massive damage.
Oh I was sure to get all of…
Oh I was sure to get all of the upgrades that increase your regeneration as well as your health. And then I made sure to have a lot of magic regeneration which gives you 20 manna per second for 60 seconds. And made sure that I had a high amount of mana generation over mana spent so that when you get close to just over 1000 you quickly hit the tree with Several powerful spell. I had equipped the golden sword, the golden armor plate, and a cloak of regeneration.
After you beat that allocation is going to open up and there is an enemy that requires something special to do any damage. I have not figured out how to hurt this particular enemy. I checked things like the silver equipment to see if it indicated whether it hurt certain types of enemies over others but I didn't see anything. Anybody knows without giving too much away how to hurt those particular enemies that become available after you beat the living forest I would appreciate it.
Spoilers Stop the poison
You also need to have antidotes ready so that soon as you hear it do a poison attack pause the game check whether you are affected by poison and use the antidote so that you're not impacted with huge hit point reduction. Throughout most of the battle, I kept my hit points at near maximum with just a few healing potions taken throughout the battle. The hardest part is knocking the tree out before it does several massive heals and starts attacking you again.
Regarding pausing
In case anybody ran into this problem. I was having problem pausing the game. Instead, it was just plain my media from my phone. And what I figured out is if you are on any of the headers or looking at your mana and you double tap it doesn't affect the game. You need to be focused more on, the specific exploration screen such as the timestamp log. If you tap on that log and then do the two finger double tap, it will pause.
Since this game is called MagicResearch, when someone said you have to do a magic tap, I thought it was something specifically in the game not just the regular two finger. Double tap gesture. I hope anyone finds this useful because pausing is really important to be successful in the boss battles.
Got far
Got past the cherry ent
re: got far
congratulations! this is a very hard boss!
it might be a good time to retire, if you haven't done it yet.
check the retirement screen for all the bonus you can get.
also the next area is much much harder, but if you manage to advance to the end of the first floor of the tower, you'll unlock a new feature.
also be sure to check the stats screen for each school to see what will be the next spell or item to craft, so if you want you could focus all research to a single school for your objective.
hope you like the game.
next patch is comming soon and has more improvements, with the battle log, so it will be easier to read and it will disappear when the quick bar or spells are active during combat.
Tower peak boss
I have approached this boss in several different manners. All defense and, health, replenishment, and heels. Another attempt with heavy attack with spells. And an aggressive sword and armor build. Most of my magic schools are 19 or level 20. I have all of the best available gear equipped. Except I am still using the gold armor versus the electrical armor. And I just cannot get past this enemy. Do I need to further level up or unlock something that gives me an advantage. Anyone get past this part?
tower peak
there's a good stunning weapon with level 22 enchantment and level 18 conjuration I believe.
you can check the stats screen and by choosing a school you can see what are the next unlock item and at what level you'll unlock it.
I believe I defeated this boss in the third retirement, it's really hard, but i don't remember what exact equipment I used.
probably the electric armor is worth it at this point, but if you haven't done it yet, please retire for the first time.
Spoiler alert - question about boss
Has anyone defeated The temple of darkness floor 1 boss? He seems to have an attack that slowly escalates and after some time deals over 600 damage. i’m trying to figure out how to stop this.
re: question about boss
hey! unfortunately I haven't defeated this boss yet, but i'm hopeful to find a good strategy this time.
spoiler:
probably you need to get the bonus of reaching level 30 with each school to fight the master and get the bonus.
peraps some stun weapon could help, or peraps dispel self.
Doesn’t work
Dispel self doesn’t work. Neither does the necklace of death protection. Doom is not the problem here. I have also finally got all the level 30 bonuses in this run. This doesn’t seem to help either.
I am sad to say that I am stuck here.
I have an attack of 237, my defense is 397 and I have 990 mana per second. Still I’m stuck.
re: doesn't work
have you checked in the stats screen for all of the schools what item you can unlock next? peraps there's something which could help you if you would focus all researchers to one single school to unlock something.
Bosses in the elemental powers spoilers
I am trying to determined if there are particular pieces of equipment that you need to wait for before you can beat particular bosses. Right now I'm trying to fight the bosses in the four elemental towers. For example, with the dragon he is breathing cones of fire that takeoff 200 hit points. I have the fancy shield and the electrical armor. Most of my spell schools are in the low 20s. I'm trying to figure out whether I am just under Powered because I don't have the right equipment yet because my schools are too low or if I am employing a bad strategy. Does each boss have a strategy that makes it easier to beat them?
Also while he's taking his time to do the fire breathing attack, is there anything I can do on a regular basis to disrupt that attack? When I use something like the stun bomb, he just casts it again and I can't use the bomb for 120 seconds. I feel like there must be some method of disruption, but I haven't determined what that is.
Backpack space
Do you get an opportunity to increase your backpack space more than 35 slots? I am running into a big problem having enough space to have crafty materials, quest items, potions, and a couple different sets of armor and weapons, depending on the battle, I'm going to face.
re: backpack space
after you complete the elemental dungeons you'll unlock a new set of upgrades
Did you kill the boss?
I defeated him today. There are also some upgrades regarding inventory space after that as well.
There's times in this game…
There's times in this game where I'm not sure what really needs to be done to advance. For example, I've beat the four elemental castles and I'm at the dark tower. A bunch of new upgrades are available. However they want minimum 150,000 monstium them and I only have 108,000 and I, don't have any way to upgrade any more things on my campus. So, am I waiting for some piece of equipment that will help me upgrade something? Am I waiting for a storyline that will increase my storage capacity? Do I need to retire?
re: there's times in this game
congratulations for beating the four elements! they are really hard.
the new upgrades require scrolls which you have the chance to get from the monsters in the temple of darkness.
in the campus screen you can check in the current goal what your next objective.
in the next update to the game releasing probably in a week or more there will be a bestiary unlockable with a new story which will contain useful info for new players. there will also be a new story with smarter apprentices.
It's a storage problem
The issue is that I am maxed out my storage capacity in the campus. In fact, I've maxed out everything in the campus. And it wants 150,000 monstium and the max available momstium can get his 108,000 so, how do I Get an opportunity to him Kris my storage capacity.
Just to be clear
I am really enjoying this game
Are there any sounds?
I just downloaded the game, and am attempting to learn it. Are there any sounds though? The app's accessibility seems to be quite robust, but I do hope the whole thing isn't silent.
Stuck
I am in my second retirement and I reached the dark tower. I have beat death And I have loads of available upgrades but they require 150,000 Monstium and I have already maxed out everything in my campus and can only reach 120 monstium. What do I need to do in order to raise my monstium. to a level to actually engage any of these upgrades. This has ground my advancement in the game to a halt because I have no idea how to get my monstium to a level that allows me to engage any of the dark tower upgrades . Do I have to encounter some side quest to get my monstium increased?
Upgrades
I think your solution lies within the upgrades tab. I believe there’s nothing you can do in the campus that can increase your storage capacity further than what you have.
By the way, after you have completed the second floor of the dark tower, I think it’s time for your third retirement. I am stuck on the second level boss since last Friday.
Also I would advise you to make some quick runs in order to increase your booty and then try to advance further. I am on my sixth retirement and I still can’t beat the boss. in fact I am amazed you’ve gotten so far only in your second retirement.
Good luck
Question
Do you know what you did or what reward you got to get your monstium capacity to get higher than 120k? To build a monstium storage I need 15,000 Mana capacity but I can't build any mana storage units or I can't get the materials to Build gear to raise my mana level above 12,100. This is the second time I've gotten to the dark tower and I'm stuck in the exact same spot. I was hoping that beating the death boss would've jumpstart something to help me. I'm going to retire again soon , but if I get stuck at this spot for a third time I think that's a real flaw in the game. Because there is no clear indication of what you'd have to do to advance.
Not sure
However, when you retire multiple times, your production is substantially increased. So maybe in a couple of runs, when you reach the tower, you will have the mana capacity to build what you need.
either that, or you need to take a closer look at the available upgrades. if I remember correctly, there is an upgrade which cost 80 K monstium and which can solve your issue.
