Water lock an Apple Watch

Hi, I have some questions about water lock. I tried to turn the digital crown on so now when I turn the crown water lock will go off but once I get it off, I can’t figure out how to get it back on even after I end my workout or go out of the water, my screen will just unlock really quickly and I can’t tap anything on the screen I can’t power down or do any double tapping the second that I push the crown the watch says what’s on the screen and unlock and then locks back up, it won’t even let me tap touch the screen. I can’t even swipe up for control center or anything. Once I turn water lock on it messes up my whole entire watch, and I cannot fix it. Even when I turn water lock off, my watch is still messed up and I cannot do anything on my watch because as it opens the screen really quickly and then locks, please help. Thank you!

Well, I don’t know how to delete my phone post. I guess you can’t. I think I might have figured it out. I have a cover on my Apple Watch and I think the screen inside was so wet from the water.

With the earlier Apple watches, you had to turn the crown continuously until it expelled water out of the speaker. Now you simply hold down the crown to get it out of water lock mode.

Hello,
on the newer watches, wouldn't holding the crown down trigger SIRI? I would prefer to just continue turning the crown ... fast to get all the water out. By the way, with the plastic covers, can VoiceOver still work with them on? I wouldn't think so as your fingers need to touch the screen, right?

In the new watches you just hold it and listen to VO tell you to keep holding. It does not because to use Siri you push and release the crown.

Are people still being silly and having showers wearing their Apple Watches? I remember having an argument about this with one of these very clean fellows a few years ago. I was on the watchless showerer side. Then I saw the same discussion a few weeks ago under another thread which ended inconclusively. With that in mind, I just wondered who was winning at present? Do you shower with the watch or are you a watchless showerer? Or is the whole thing so confusing that rather than lose the watch, you lose the shower instead?

Ashley, Holger's correct. You hold until you feel vibrations and a sound. then release it and all is well. as I've stated, I'll never use it as it just freaks me the hell out trusting water lock. So does showering, with the watch. shut up, bingo lol jk. Seriously, Because I was given this by a loving relative and because my last name is Irish and synonymous with, I haven't seen that before mentality, I choose to leave it on the table and put it back on when done. By the way Holger, I can understand what she meant, I do tend to hold in the digital crown, until it vibrates, speak then let go. Stay warm, it's cold even down here in the sunshine state.

I asked AppleInsider about using it for that and they stated no. Apple does not suggest you do so due to soap could get inside the watch. I did in the past but not anymore.

Hey Holger. You've said this before. To be honest, the only soap you'd get is shampoo and stuff on your hands, nowhere near the watch or band. Unless you're covering yourself in body wash, you would be ok with a shower, because if a watch can go into a pool with water lock on, it should and could do so in a shower. I just wouldn't :) Hope I helped.

I wash my hair and it has shampoo and when I am cleaning my hair the water is coming down my arm and hand and watch. I take a shower everyday and wash my hair everyday.

I didn't mean to make it sound you didn't shower, I'm sorry. I just meant that even if I were to wear it, I wouldn't have soap coming down that far. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I got that. No, I heard you. Like I stated when I wash my hair and rinse it the shampoo the water is coming down my arms and watch. Like I stated AppleInsider suggested that is not a good idea.

The way this discussion has gone - correct shower protocol. Keep it coming, both.

Explaining why shower are not recommended by others. Even Apple does not do so.

You didn't tell us what Bella the cat thought. I look to bella for advice on such matters.

By Holger Fiallo on Friday, March 24, 2023 - 20:12

She does not get why I waste water. She feels that I am wasting it. She does like that I sing songs for her. I make up songs about Bella the cat using musicals or change regular songs to Bella.

Hello,
I think it's time this thread go to the fishes! the point's been made, but I still carefully shower with the watch on! I haven't had any issues. So, if you're just vwashing your hands regularly, you take the watch off? Just be extra careful/turn wl on beforehand.

Agree. Just shower. Good luck.

Hi all, as stated in the subject, now I cannot check time either via haptic signals or spoken by watch. It was possible with WatchOs 8 or earlier. With 9th version of WatchOs I am unable to check time. Any hints welcome and appreciated.
