Hello all,

Does anyone know of a service you can download that will interpose an audio descriptive track onto a corresponding movie or TV show that lacks audio description as one has downloaded it? Thanks in advance.

There is no such service.

You can take an AD track and replace the existing audio in a program like Final Cut Pro, but there are often sync issues with this method as many of the audio description MP3s out there use different frame rates and sample rates.

If you want just the AD audio embedded into the existing program audio, this needs to be done in a program like ProTools so the audio is mixed.

You might be able to contract with someone to provide this service, but it will be expensive. A friend of mine does this. She spends considerable time writing and testing a script before doing the actual recording in a soundproof booth. It's comparable in price and process to recording an audiobook, which can cost hundreds of dollars.

The bigger problem is that film and TV production companies view audio description as an afterthought. If they were to integrate it into the production process along with scriptwriting, cast, sets, effects, and everything else that goes into a film or TV production, the results would be far superior and always present.
