I have listened to podcasts where Thomas gets his phone with VoiceOver to read the lyrics of the song that is playing. How did you do that? My devices won’t read them to me. I have a Braille display and I can swipe through them, but they don’t automatically read them out. Thanks.

Check Media Description Options
If you want VoiceOver to automatically read the lyrics, you need to turn on media description. This is located under settings/accessibility/voiceover/verbosity. There are several options to choose from. You can choose speech, or speech/Braille. There may be more options, but I can't remember off the top of my head.
