Create custom gesture for turning voice over on/off?

Hi forum

I have been having trouble pressing the side button two times when I want to turn voice over on/off. For that reason I've tried to create a custom gesture in accessibility/voice over/commands/all commands/shortcuts/turn voiceover on_off

I pressed "add gesture" and selected "press three times on the back of your iphone".

Testing it out - with voice over off - nothing happens. Same with another gesture - "press three times with two fingers. When I selected the gestures ios didn't give me any warning that the gestures were taken.

Any ideas?

All the best,
Ben

If it works for your circumstances, you could use the Back Tap functionality to use either a double tap or triple tap on the back of your device to turn VoiceOver On and off.

You can set this up at Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap

Greetings. I just tell Siri to turn VoiceOver on or off. You can also slow down the speed required for the triple tap in accessibility settings, but the Siri functionality works better.

I set up a custom gesture to toggle Voiceover on and off using the back tap gesture. I haven't found that to be a very reliable way of turning Voiceover on/off. sometimes the gesture works, and sometimes not. Sometimes when I lay my phone on a hard surface like a table, the gesture gets activated!

So I usually turn Voiceover on/off now by using a Siri voice command.
