Annoying regression in WhatsApp conversations?

I've noticed that when flicking through a WhatsApp chat, I'm being offered a button for contact info of the sender of the previous message. This is quite annoying. I believe this has only started today, presumably with an update. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, I’ve noticed this over the past week or two. Quite annoying.

I actually quite like this and hope it remains this way. It feels betgter as I can qujickly add someone to my contacts if they are not already in there.

True that’s a useful feature, but you don’t need this button to do it.
We always had this option in the rotor actions menu, which for my money is cleaner and a nicer user experience. In fact one of the reasons I’ve generally preferred VoiceOver on iPhone to TalkBack on Android is that Android tends to have more buttons like this, whereas iPhone tends to use the actions menu more often.

It seems that most people don't like it. I've flagged this with WhatsApp support, which you can do easily through the help tab.
