I have an iPad mini, gen 5. I need to lock the portrait view in place. I know someone told us how to do it several years ago, but I can’t find the post. Thanks for the help.
Go to Settings, Ap store then flick down until you hear App Updates, Automatically install new app updates. Set this to on and your updates will install while you are connected to power.

Control Center
To lock your iPad in portrait orientation, access the Control Center and double-tap the "Lock rotation" switch.
Switch not there
There is no orientation switch in the control center. Any other suggestions?
Open control from the screen and not
Open control from the screen by using finger down from top of screen. Is not in setting. After you open it slide right until you see it.
Finally got it.
I could not get the control center to open by swiping down with one finger. I assigned a 4-finger swipe to open it, and it worked.
Here you go.
Go to Settings, Ap store then flick down until you hear App Updates, Automatically install new app updates. Set this to on and your updates will install while you are connected to power.
