Comments
I don't want to be a downer but...
I don't see the point of this app? Sure looking at a menu is nice but you can just ask the person to read out a certain catigory to you and go from there.
It's not in the UK so I'm going to have to do that anyway.
Loving This App!
Subject line says it all. Had a bit of a problem finding menus at first. I live in Canada and it said there were no menus nearby. When I entered a city, I was given results that weren't very close to me. I decided to try entering my postal code, and when I did this it worked. I'm not sure why nothing is being found when trying to use my location. I also couldn't find a way to change the radius. I looked under privacy like the FAQ said, but no luck. Overall, I think this is a great app. I recommend it to anyone wanting to find accessible menus.
I hope this makes money.
I’m in the UK so this isn’t useful for me yet but Wow I hope it makes enough money to expand and stay updated. To the first comment saying just get someone to read the menu, you may be missing the point of this app. Of course it’s possible to do that but wouldn’t it be great to do it yourself? I think so anyway. Fingers crossed it’s a comprehensive index of menu’s and hopefully comes to the UK soon. Thanks to the developers.
Impressive!!
Usually there are very few menus available on apps in my location. But this brought up close to a hundred! I'll definitely be subscriping, as this is worth the money to me.
search function
As one of the beta testers, the search function still needs work. This is the 2nd version. The developers changed data bases. The search works best zip or postal codes. City works best if there is no other city with the sane nane. Example: Little Rock. If more than one city with the same name, add the state or province. Example: Memphis, TN
I wouldn’t pay for this…
I use UberEats and other apps that provide free local restaurant menus so doesn’t make sense to pay a monthly subscription plus their website is free so just add a bookmark to your homescreen to access it. The price point is not ideal for someone who uses the same idea for free.
I love it!
Hello,
I don't understand what all the negative comments are about.
I used this app for the first time the other day, & was very impressed.
I went to a local Starbucks with my mom & a friend.
Upon arrival, I opened the app, which I'd downloaded only minutes before.
It asked for location access, which I granted.
It then pulled up a bunch of restaurantsincluding that one, & I was able to browse the menu independently.
It was great!
There are some restaurantsin my area, that are not yet listed & I'll be emailing the developer about it, in hopes that they can add them. ,
To each their own but ok
I absolutely can not stand this new subscription bases model of developers, even though on a logical level i do. I'm just unwilling to subscribe two bucks a month, give me a lifetime subscription or I don't even consider it. also, if you didn't know, aira, the free voice guided visual interpretation assistant would've done all that for what's that ladies and gentlemen? Free. I realize you want to do things independently, good for you. But charging for something that should be free for all of us is just not something I will support. I agree with the above, Uber eats, or aira, or even if i used the five minutes to tell them, I want a chicken dish, pasta, boom decision is done. As for the site, I think it's incredibly offensive to hold your phone up trying to get the waiter's attention. I'd much rather put the cane on the table, it's captain obvious! Or if not, I can politely ask them to check on me in however much time that i choose. Good for you but, nope nope nope.
Why so much negativity?
This app is efficient to use. I think it is a great concept and will pay for the subscription. The price is not unreasonable. The developer needs money too!
Menus4All and Why I will not buy it
First of all, I want to thank the developers for this app. I can't begin to count the times I could not find an accessible menu at local restaurants, even after so many places began to put their menus online. Again, I do tip my cap to the developer for the thoughtfulness of such an ap.
All of that said, I will not buy it. I have downloaded it and read through it at a restaurant, which is great. However, in order for me to buy an app like this, the menus must be up to date. I don't have the app open in front of me right now, but I believe the menu data comes from allmenus.com. That is all well and good, but I expect if I'm going to pay for being able to read menus, which in theory I should be able to read for free like all sighted folks, I insist the menu be kept up to date. Also, I live in a large suburban area with well over a hundred restaurants in the city that have accessible menus. Just for grins and giggles, I browsed down the list of the closest restaurants to me to see what all was available. NOTE: At the end of the list, I was still less than five miles from my house. Anyway, here's the thing that really decided me not to get this app. Of those hundred results, one restaurant was listed no less than twenty times. Others also had multiple listings for the exact same restaurant at the exact same location. That is very uncool!
Again, I love the idea behind this app. I will keep it on my phone after my trial period expires, and if the above issues are resolved, I will more than likely subscribe. Again, in summary, great attempt, but needs lots of work.
PS: to those who say we're being overly negative, you are, of course, entitled to your opinion.
You hit on a lot of what I didn't want to admit
I respect the developer, but nowadays, did I just say that?, it's very easy to keep a menu up to date. I think the developer is wanting the blindness aspect, not the accessibility aspect. They need to understand, come at this with a different viewpoint then, look, we have menus. It just seems counterintuitive. Also, It's a lot easier to pay once, I mean you have menus everywhere until Apple says you don't meet the requirements, or your app is abandoned. Does no one honestly see why this app needs help?
I'm not being negative.
If this app works for you, great! I just don't see the point when I can just ask a weighter to read me the catigories and go from there.
RE: I'm Not Being Negative
I, for one, am not accusing you of being negative. Like I said at the end of my post, you are entitled to your own opinion, something a lot of society seems to forget these days. You certainly do not have to justify it to me. :) My opinion is that I expect to be able to walk into a restaurant, be seated, and then order from the same menu sighted folks do, without sighted assistance. As I said, that opinion is just that ... mine. It is not wrong or right. If you prefer having sighted assistance with menus, more power to you.
Highly recommend this app.
The one thing I really like about this menu app is that where ever you are, the app shows you the nearest restaurants. This means when you're at home, you'll see the closest ones and when, for example, you are at work, the closest restaurants to there are shown. And it looks like the menus are up-to-date.
subscription
The latest version of the app has an annual subscription. If you subscribe to the monthly, you can change that to yearly. Gives you about two months extra for free.
