Yeah, this is a possible bug, but I'm not running the beta, so don't assume I'm posting this in the wrong place, as I'm not.
I'm up to date on iOS 16.0.2. I don't think the active voice would have even the slightest remote possible thing to do with this, but just so others can set up my exact scenareo, I'm using Reed with Eloquence for my voice.
Anyway, back to the problem, so, I've got this really cockeyed thing going on where with the on screen keyboard up and set to standard typing, (not to be confused with touch typing,) if I make a typo, or, I try hitting the return key to insert a line break wherever I'm typing text, not always, but maybe 7 times roughly out of 10, as soon as I hit either return or delete and double tap that first initial time, Voiceover loses focus, and jumps up to the stupid edit field I'm trying to type into. Now, you may think, yeah? so? What's your point? Just refocus Voiceover on the next letter to be inserted... big deal, cry me a river! Well, normally, yeah, that's a fair point. But here's where it comes in really aggervating. Let's say for example that I was typing an e-mail message, and I am wanting to start a new paragraph. So, I move on the keyboard down to the return key, and I'd have to double tab it twice. Once for a blank line, then again a second time to start the line with the new paragraph. So basically, 2 carriage returns back to back. Normally, I'd find delete, double tap, wait about a second or so, then double tap immediately again without flicking away or whatever, as why? I'm already on the delete key, so why move away? Just double tap again. Well, in this case, that won't work. If I double tap, as I said most of the time, Voiceover then jumps to the actual text field box itself. So, if I double tap a second time, well, now, I've just moved my carret insertion point cursor to the start of the text. Now, I hit return, then start typing, I'm now inserting a blank line on the top of my text, followed by the start of the text beginning with what I want at the end, if that makes any sense.
Let's say I'd written, "His car is blue, but then I decided, actually, let's make that say brown, not blue. So, I'm after the E in blue. I double tap on delete, it gets rid of the E. I then double tap again, Crap! Now, I'm at the top of the file to the left of the H in the word his. So if I just immediately try to back space again to next delete the u in blue, it jumps me to the end of what I typed, to the right of the U in blue. I know this isn't normal behavior. I've been using iOS since the dinosaur age. OK, not literally, LOL, but until iOS 16, I've never seen this happen. At least not to this degree. It maybe happened before once like every 200 times, but not like this. And you know... it's random. I can't really pinpoint down when nor if, it's gonna do it or not. There doesn't really seem to be a persistent pattern to it.
Has anyone seen this, and do you know what on earth may be causing it? This is just wicked bizarre!

I've seen that at least once or twice with another voice too.
It happened to me about once or twice to me although I have a different voice, definitely not as consistent but there. Making typing with the onscreen keyboard a little bit of a wreck, as still the bug where the delete key occationally get stuck or capital letters always getting stuck. VO focus bugs central. I switch to touch typing and/or don't use the onscreen keyboard, though standard typing is easiest because I don't have letters randomly setting off on me when I double-tap too close to the bottom of the screen etc. Seeing that I rarely use the onscreen keyboard no wonder I haven't seen as much of it, but it's there, I'll tell you that!
What phone are you using?
Hi,
To the original poster, what phone are you using?
I'm using an iPhone 13 pro max, & have "never" seen this issue, even when beta testing, as I'm doing now.
