Just downloaded the latest iTunes update, and I'm trying to sync music to my iDevice... I'm using windows 8 with jaws 14, but I can't seem to copy and paste... Any suggestions? Thanks!
I use the same suite of software as you. I'm not sure what you are trying to cut and paste. Perhaps you can let us know what you are trying to accomplish, and perhaps there's an easier way we can suggest.
Just looking to find the easiest way to manually sync content to my iPhone from iTunes 11... Copy and pasting isn't working for me like I thought it would.
I don't use cut and paste to put music on my iPod. I have more than will fit on the device, so I turn of the sync everything box. I create playlists in iTunes, add songs to them, and then select the play list I want to sync in the music tab of iTunes. I don't have to cut or paste anything. If you want details on how I do it, let me know and I'll write up a little guide for you.
As with many things, there are often more than one way to do something. I'm not saing this is the best way, but it's one way, and the easiest way for me to explain it. If others have another way, please jump in. If you have more questions, fire away.
IF you want to have all your music on your device, and you have enough room, here's how to get iTunes to put it there.
I use the old Side Bar for the sources list. If you don't have it on, and you want to follow my instructions, you can turn it on with Control +S.
Press F6 until you are in the sources tree view.
Used down arrow to find your device.
Use TAB to move to the music radio button. Press spacebar
Use tab to move to the Sync Music checkbox. Make sure it's selected.
Use Tab to move to the "Sync all music" box, and make sure it's selected.
Use TAB to move to the "Apply Button and press spacebar.
That gets your whole music library on the device.
If you only want to sync selected music, you need to create one or more playlists.
From the sources tree view, use your up or home key to get to the music source.
Press Control N to create a new playlist.
Give it a name.
You will be in the new playlist, and unless you do more advance stuff like creating a playlist from a selection, it will be empty.
Use your Up arrow, or the Home key, to move to the top of the sources list which is your music.
You can now select music to add to the playlist you created. You can use the column browser, or the search box, to refine your selection to make things easier. Or, you can simply press F6 until you are in the music list and select tracs individually or in groups using shift and arrows or other things like a JAWS ccursor click.
Once you have selected a track or tracks, you hit your application key, then press A twice to get the Add to Playlist submenu.
Press Right Arrow to open the submenu, then use up and down arrows to select the play list you want to add the track or tracks to.
Yu can go on selecting music and adding it to the play list.
Note, there are smart playlists too, which can select tracks automatically based on rules you create, but that's for another guide.
Once you have the playlist populated, it's time to put it on your device.
Go back to the sources tree view and find your device again.
Tab to the music radio button and select it.
Tab to the Sync Music box and make sure it's selected.
Tab to the Sync all and make sure it's not selected.
Tab to the sync selected artists, playlists and genres box and select it
Press Tab until you get to the playlist tree view.
Use the down arrow to move through the list and press spacebar to select the playlist or playlists you want on the device.
Press tab until you get to the apply or sync button. Press spacebar.
iTunes will put the tracks you selected on your device.
