Hi guys.
Has anyone had any success with dictation in iOS 16? whilst actually dictating works just fine I can’t access the on-screen keyboard which was one of the new big features whilst dictating. Am I missing anything?
This seems to apply to Siri as well, VoiceOver doesn’t seem to be able to access the Siri interface whilst speaking with Siri.
any thoughts?

Having voiceover speaking while dictating kind of defeats the purpose.

Unless you're using headphones or a braille display, you're going to have what voiceover says into your text.

Jonathan Mosen explains it better than I can, and he demonstrated it with a braille desplay.

It worked as advertised.

In spotlight search it is behaving normally like iOS 15. But in. WhatsApp, chat message, edit field. And also in this website comment field it is working as advertised in iOS 16.

I'm not sure about the using the keyboard while dictating part because I never use that, but I'm on iOS 16 and dictation and Siri are behaving as expected, here. Generally I'm using dictation specifically because I'm wanting to type something lengthy and don't want to use the keyboard, so needing to use them both at the same time isn't a use case I see much point in, myself

Based on how I’ve been able to use it, it seems like there’s not really much difference between iOS 15 and iOS 16. I thought the whole point was that you were able to switch between keyboard and voice seamlessly. This will be really helpful to edit words that didn’t come through properly or add extra punctuation on the fly.

It will work with a Braille display connected. You can edit as you are dictating and make corrections on the fly. I think the reason it doesn't work with just VoiceOver is because dictation would pick up VoiceOver during the dictation. So it would make sense that VoiceOver doesn't speak during dictation
