My iPhone refuses to work with my Ford F-150

My parents got themselves a new truck today! I, being the technology person I am, decided to connect my phone to Bluetooth.
it turns out, when you do this voiceover tries to come out of the car speakers. This is a problem because, the car just isn’t built for voiceover.
I don’t get any sound coming out of my phone because it’s trying to come out of the speakers. I fix this by putting in my AirPods which was nice, but now I could use some help.
Is there a way to make VoiceOver come out of only the phone when it is connected to a car or anything else for that matter.
Thank you so much.

Use VO quick setting, slide to sounds, on sounds slide up to iphone and VO will come out on the phone.

go to your bluetooth settings, and find the car. Swipe to more info. Under device type, change it from car stereo to speaker
This will cause voiceover to come out of just the phone while allowing anything else you play to come through the car speakers I have this set up for my parents car.

I basically lose sound as soon as the car connects, I can’t hear VoiceOver at all.
If anyone could provide a sequence of gestures that would be perfect.
Thank you for all the help so far. I didn’t even know some of these were possible.
