Accessibility problems in My phonak APp on ios

I purchased a new Marvel Audeo 50 from Phonak, and Frankly am so happy, at least better than my old audeo 30,
so, they are using an app called "My Phonak' that can change programs, change some frequences, etc.
THe app is hardly accessible, all buttons are not labeled, sliders can not be used at all.
does anyone is using it?

sorry for bringing this subject to the top, but i'm in the 14 days which i can return my Marvel Audeo back, and i contacted the Phonak support, and they said that, they are not going to support Voice over, may be, they will support Talkback, in the upcomming My phonak versions.
ANyone here that tried this?

I'd find something else. A company that won't bother to properly build their app despite charging several thousand dollars for their hardware doesn't seem particularly appealing

Bottom line: hearing aid apps are mostly inaccessible. You are best off determing if the aids themselves meet your hearing needs. If you can get some bonuses from an app, great, but make sure you can use the aids effectively without it. Even if you find an accessible app now, usually you will use the aids over a three to five year span and in that time most apps go through periods of inaccessibility. So any aid that entirely depends on an app to operate is a bad choice. Again I'm sorry for the bad news. The good news is overall most aids can be used effectively on a daily basis without an app.

When i contacted Phonak Support, they told me that they may support My phonak app on android with talk-back but not VOice over, and this support will be for the Paradise not Marvel,
actually this is so strange, because, Both are using the same app, also, why they do not want to support VOice over?

I've been wearing hearing aids for many many years and I wear the Resound brands. I've tried many many times to ask them to make their app accessible but they never respond. As Travis say, make sure you get hearing aids that work well without apps. Test driving the many hearing aid apps they are very clunky with Voice Over. I guess there is no such a thing as a blind person that can't hear very well. I do admit that sometimes I myself get confused when shopping for accessible products. I might come across a really neat product for the blind and I say No wait, I can't hear. Or I come across something cool for the deaf and get ready to purchase only to remember I am blind LOL.

The sad reality is that we are a low priority since we are a small share of the market. When you start considering cross-disability use cases, it quickly becomes too much for many folks. I wonder if Phonak would reconsider the Android choice, I'm quite confident in saying that there are many more iOS users who have both vision and hearing loss than there are Android users. I'm not saying that because this is AppleVis, but because this is what I encounter regularly in my day to day work in the field.
All that aside, Travis is correct, in my opinion. The other thing to consider is your need beyond the phone, if you have any other devices you would like to connect to directly. Phonak, as far as I know, is the only hearing aid manufacturer making hearing aids which allow you to connect directly with the Apple watch. I have also been able to connect them to my PC, though latency is a challenge with NVDA and JAWS. I have also connected my Phonak hearing aids to other devices like the Book Sense and one of the Orcam products. At this time, as far as I know, these types of things can only be carried out indirectly with other manufacturers like Oticon and Resound. I think Starkey may have something that ,has just come out or will be soon, hwichwill allow for both direct Bluetooth support such as the Phonak P90's have, but will also offer MFi support. Lots to consider beyond the app itself. I know it's quite a daunting task, and I wish you the best of luck with it!

AM very happy with this update, really they did a great job.
but when i need to change the program from Automatic to Restaurant or anything, how can i do that? when i select a program, i got a message containing the program name,, so how can i do that?

I just double tapped on each program and it switched for me. Give it a try and if it doesn't work, ask for support from either Apple or the Phonak folks.

SOrry for asking, but after double tapping, what happened? did you get any window? or just the name of the program itself?

No problem. It shows the program as highlihted or selected. It does make a sound, generally a single or double ding. You can then go to adjust the program and then make changes. Any changes you make can be saved under different names, depending on what you like. For example, choose the music program, adjust program and go the the equalizer. You can then add bass, middle or treble and save it as my music program. If you just adjust the default, you can choose from default, comfort, clarity speech or surrounding. They are all different and can be changed too.

Play around with it and see what you can come up with. You can always reset things.
