Hello everyone,
For the past four years I've been the owner of an iPhone XR, having come from the 6S. In that time, I resisted setting up Face ID to unlock my phone even though the regular reminders to do so annoyed me a fair bit.
However, I recently upgraded to an iPhone 13 and, for reasons I'm not entirely sure of, I've been considering setting up Face ID this time around.
Has anyone here attempted to do so with no vision whatsoever? Did you need sighted assistance to do so? Was it worth it/what has your experience been?
Any stories/opinions/tips would be appreciated. I know about the attention feature, but I'm not entirely sure how I feel about leaving it off if I were to go ahead with this.
Thanks.

It's good
...not as good as Touch ID, but still good. It certainly beats using a passcode. When it comes to choosing between a not-quite-ideal biometric lock or a passcode/alphanumeric lock, the choice is pretty easy to make.
It's simple
You can set it up without sighted help. Personally, I wouldn't use touch ID if I was paid money. It's simple to look at your phone. It takes a second to unlock. The other thing to remember is to attention to eyes off. I'm not saying it right but if you leave this on, you have to be directly looking at the phone. If you have it off, just hold it up and it opens.
It isn't bad.
It's simple to set up. I'm totally blind and have attention turned on for security, and it still works well for me. As long as you can keep your eyes open it will work.
I tried It
Hi all,
After considering it for a little while I tried to set up Face ID. It took me probably about ten or fifteen minutes of messing around with angles and positioning, but I eventually managed to complete the process. So far, with attention turned on, I haven't had any issues.
It's good, but not exactly…
It's good, but not exactly secure if you have a twin.
At least with touch ID, only you can unlock.
And yes, I can confirm that twins can unlock a phone with face ID.
It works every single time.
Never got the mask thing to work
No idea why but i could never get it to open with a mask on. god bless not wearing them now. wish i could have made it work.
No reason not to use it
I've been using Face ID since it introduced on the iPhone X, and don't think that I would want to go back to Touch ID alone. If both were available, however, I could imagine times when I would choose one over the other, and times when Touch ID might actually be the better option.
What I don't see is a reason not to use Face ID. It has typically worked well for me and provided a satisfactory user experience.
