Hi I am wondering if someone can help. I have a 2020 Mac book Pro 13 I5 with 16gb of ram. I have had an issue with Voiceover for the past couple of weeks. I am running the latest version of Big sur. The issue I am having is that Voiceover is talking double when I am navigating around a screen. Sometimes it will sound like she is saying the same thing but micro seconds apart and other times, she is saying one thing then will completely say something different. Is this a known bug with Mac os Big Sur? Does anyone know if and how to fix it? Any help would be great as this is driving me crazy..

I experience the same thing. What voice do you use? I'm using Nora. This has been an ongoing issue with Big Sur in general.

This is something that's been happening for a while, and it seems to only occur with Siri voices. So, the most immediate fix to your problem is switch to another voice, either Alex or one of the Vocalizer voices. If you really want to stick to the Siri voice, then what seems to make this issue more likely to occur is pressing control to stop speech so you can minimize the likelihood of double speech by not doing that, though it'll still happen on occasion unfortunately.

Thank you very much for all of your helpful replys. I have changed the Voiceover voice on the Mac from female Siri to Serena. It has seem to have worked and fixed the issue. However, hoping this bug gets fixed soon. I would like to go back to the Siri voice. Does anyone known if has been reported to Apple or do you think it’s worth me reporting it?

I have experienced this issue on my M1 MacBook Air, since I got it a few months ago. Super annoying. I certainly hope Apple fixes it. I have reported it multiple times.

My experience is: Regardless of whether somebody has already reported a problem, report it nevertheless. I reported this particular bug during the 11.1 beta cycle, which is where I first experienced it. With Apple, mass seems to matter. So the more people report the same or similar issue, the more likely it is that a critical point will be surpassed that makes them fix it faster.
