Cannot call people in my contacts app

Hi. I have had a strange problem with my phone for a few days now.
I cannot call anyone using my contacts app. I select a contact and place a call but it comes back with, "You've dialed an incorrect number," even though the number is correct. Also, wen ever I go into the messages app or if someone is calling me, voiceover no longer says the name of the contact. It just reads their phone number. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Precede the number with a plus and your country code. If that doesn't work, check if by any chance, those numbers are in the blocked list.

About the first part of your question, I actually don’t know why such a thing happened but I have a different issue. When I dial the first number on my last dialed numbers list, the phone dials a totally different number somewhere down the list and I have to keep on apologizing for calling people at the wrong time. Regarding the voiceover not reading out caller ID, I would suggest that you increase the VoiceOver volume and reduce the ringer volume. This worked for me.
