@Bruce: Option right arrow navigates forward by word in a text filed.
@Vanilla: Thanks for the link. I've been meaning to remove some of my keyboards anyway. I'm not sure if this will fix the problem because I try to make sure I have the US English keyboard layout selected, but so far I haven't had any issues.
I don't know which app you are using to access your text files, but I'm going to guess you have a key conflict between VoiceOvert and your text app. Have you tried redefining the VoiceOver "read next word" command to see what happens?
Option right arrow is a command that is already part of the operating system. As I typed that last sentence, I'm not sure if being part of the operating system would conflict with VoiceOver? (I'm clearly not a computer person...) I'm just not sure why it wouldn't work reliably after this update. To be fair, once I took the time to remove keyboard layouts that I haven't used in months, I haven't had an issue with it. I'm hoping that I might have carelessly pressed the globe key to switch layouts by accident. I am cautiously optimistic. Appreciate your comments and your willingness to help!
I notice that apple keyboard are not reliable. command h suppose to send you to home. Sometimes it works sometimes does not. Is not consistent like an keyboard for windows. In regular PC any pad or pc with a wireless keyboard, it works all the time. Not with apple. Specially with VO.
When I first got my iPad, I remember needing to go through my keyboard settings, keyboard accessibility settings, and VoiceOver settings to turn off trackpad focus. I can't remember the details or what settings I needed to change. I did quickly look and I see that I have keyboard shortcuts turrned off. Don't remember why though. I think that I struggled to insert a space when I was typing in word processors?
To go home, the VoiceOver shortcut is VO+H. It consistently works every time for me.

Interesting. I just tried that and option right arrow did not send me to the app library. I'm using an iPad Air 4 running iOS 15.5 and magic keyboard.
