Hello,
I have a bunch of family videos that were converted from VHS to DVD. My grandmother wants them digitized onto a hard drive. They're homemade, so they're not protected. What is the most accessible DVD ripper for mac that will preferably convert the videos to .mp4 or .mov or whatever the popular video format is these days? I know there are a plethora of DVD rippers out there, but which is the most accessible with voiceover and will work on a mac mini with an external dvd drive. My m1 mac mini is running big sir.
Thanks

Use makemkv. It'll make mkv files which maintain really good quality and it's free.
HandBrake
I've used HandBrake with VoiceOver. It's a bit finicky for accessibility, but you can get the hang of it quickly. Put HandBrake for Mac into your favourite search engine and download it for free. Last time I installed it, it was ad-free and light weight.
End result was h.264 video in an M4V file format, but I imagine they've updated this to include MOV and MP4 now. Good luck.
