Hi all. Using IOS15.4.1 and just recently, when I search for updates, it crashes. It goes back to the home screen but the app switcher says it's still "active". Has anyone else had this happen? Using Spectrum mobile for cell service and wifi. It happens whether or not i'm on wifi. Any reason this happens? Annoying as hell because I can't search for updates.
Comments
Yes
I have also had this happen to me. I have Comcast wifi and Tmobile and the same thing happens on both. Sometimes it behaves, sometimes it does not. I first noticed this when searching for an app. I think it's one of those issues where VO is causing the crash as I did an experiment and the app store did not crash with my VO off.
Thank you
Thanks for the response. I thought it was just weird. I wonder why this just started happening. Here's hoping 15.5 comes out soon to fix it. I mean checking for updates isn't a big deal but it is.
I haven't experienced this.
Could it be your carrier?
Yes but
It happened to me with Bard Mobile on IOS 14.6. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and ultimately had to reinitialize and change my password with tech support's help before the problem finally resolved.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app store app?
Um, one slight problem with that last solution.
Even if you could uninstall the app store, how would you reinstall it? It's not like you could go to the app store. Another suggestion I was given was to try a warm reset with the power and side buttons.
simple
Go to the app store on line via safari to download the app store app
Interesting idea
I'm not sure if that would even work, but it is something to experiment with on another phone.
Deleting
Since you asked, what you do is:
1. focus on the app store app.
2. swipe down to edit app.
3. one finger double tap.
4. Swipe down to delete.
5. one finger double tap.
6. follow the remaining steps to delete the app.
Scratching head. I wonder why people find this difficult. Any ideas?
And then of course
You could always call Apple tech support. They are a heck of a lot smarter than I am.
Before people think we are stupid about deleting the app store.
Alright guys. First, the issue was never about deleting the app store so much as how could you get it back. Second, the App store is a stock app on the phone and you can only remove the icon from the home screen. I checked this before posting.
That's great, but
That's great if you were indeed able to delete the App Store and not just the Icon. But can you get it back? I am genuinely curious as I know you have been able to delete some stock apps but I did not think App store was one of them.
