Hello,
After the tragic experience with iOS13, I decided to postpone updating to iOS15. However I am planning to buy the new iphone SE.
However if the focus issues that have been previously reported here are still present, I might not take the plunge and keep my old iphone SE for one or two years. What I'll be using the phone is Safari navigation with headings, google search with headings and using the mail app.
No braille usage which seems to be a major problem. As far as features are concerned I don't really care about iOS15, so what is your opinion? Are there still problems with focus navigation or it's mostly fixed? Any other major bugs or they are mostly fixed? Should I upgrade? Thank you very much for your answer.

iOS 15 upgrade
You don’t have the option of staying with iOS 14.8 any more. Apple stopped signing that months ago. You will be forced, by Apple to upgrade, weather you want to or not.
I know that I have no option
I’m sorry if I do not rephrase it the right way. My two options are keep my iPhone SE 2020 and not get a new one or get the new one with the obligatory upgrade.
IPhone SE upgrade
In that case, you should technicly upgrade, and join the public beta program if you find bugs. You’re first generation SE will be out of date fast, and though features don’t matter to you, as you said in a previous post, security updates are why you, and everyone, should always run the latest versions of software. This is for every computer and mobile device, not just an iPhone. I was beta testing the developer betas of iOS 15 since beta 1 on June 8th. Then, I didn’t experience many focus issues, but now, I do. IOS 15.5 will be out in developer beta form, on June 8th, if Apple stick to their WWDC schedual. I will move to iOS 16 when it because available to developers.
Thank you
Thank you Daniel for your reply.
Another reason to at least update to the latest version
I've never understood the mindset of people who just use something as is and don't care to upgrade. It's not just here in this community but I seem to see quite a few people who wait and wait, asking over and over if a bug or bugs have been fixed. They may be or maybe the other use cases do not encounter the bugs you are talking about so how would they know? I also suggest at least going to the public releases and if a bug is present, email and call and even if you're willing, go to the apple stores and show them physically, this is not working because... I have long suspected that Apple's internal team has very few if any disabled testers on it. for one thing, if you remember the apple watch, they had to quickly put out a fix for the work outs and reminders because shock of shocks, people in a wheelchair are unable to do this task. Also, apple's sticking their fingers into so many pies now, they are very sloppy. so until or unless someone gives me concrete evidence that there are at least competent blind or low vision users of their product, I suspect Joe tester closes eyes, taps voice over, does some stuff, calls it good.
The reason why not to upgrate
Let me tell you why (the mindset).
I upgraded early to ios13 and it took 5 months for Apple to fix some very annoying bugs Since I use Safari with Heading navigation and a lot of people complain about focus issues with that, I would upgrade only if I could revert back to iOS14. But since my iphone is the only device i use for surfing it is to high risk to upgrade and stuck with an ios version that sucks. If the problems where with Braille that I do not use only, I would upgrade. Besides there is nothing really compelling for me in ios15. The only way I can see me testing to see if I wouldn't counter the bugs is to buy a new iphone SE which by default has ios15 tried and see how things are. However from what I have read the battery has about the same performance, the speakers are the same and the performance feels the same, so even though I was eager to buy it, I got cold feet now.
my persinal knolage
Hi, persenally I don't stress to upgrade, mostly because the buggs that I have experience in the latest versions.
I am using Braille all the time, mostly in hebrew, and there is no prograss with Liblouis tables.
I kope with VoiceOver crashes when my Braille Display connected and apple dosn't fix this.
I sent manny mailes and they said to me that they investigate this issue.
this bug existing 2 years.
Apple does'nt kare to blind people.
Why I can't open my iPhone wen I am waring mask? I need to look my iPhone with my eyes to open him.
upgrate
Yes unlucky 13 iOS was bad. iOS 15 and up is OK. Bugs! yes. The only issue I have is that when I mute phone, in iOS 14 and lower, VO did not speak notification when phone lock. in 15 it does. That is an issue to me.
problem encounter using Orbit Reader 20
since i'm already updated into Ios 15.4, i have difficulty navigate using orbit reader 20. ocationally no response at all any idea?
If it works, don't fix it.
Hi. As some know, I decided to stay with IOS 14. It works. I see no reason to fix it.
Now why might that be?
Two or three years ago I spent countless hours over more than thirty phone calls to seven Apple tech support specialists on a single issue that I finally resolved on my own. I have absolutely zero desire to repeat that experience. Furthermore (sorry, I'm a retired lawyer, so words like furthermore fall out of my mouth all the time), I had to go for months without my audio interface in my recording studio, all because the manufacturer hadn't finished upgrading their software to work with Apple's latest upgrade. For those who don't know, an audio interface is the singlemost important electronic component in recording studios these days.
So, for those who fail to understand why anyone wouldn't upgrade, I hope you never have to find out the hard way.
Joy!
