A continuing iPhone bug.

When a message comes in on the lock screen, and you unlock the phone, if you go to the Messages App, it will still say you have unread messages. So you have to either open Messages and read or ask Siri to read the message. Just a little minor pesky bug I wish would get fixed.

I don't recall it ever working differently, so this is likely expected behavior.

What would be nice is if you could mark a message read or delete the thread, similar to how you can mark an email read or delete it, directly from the notification.

Yes, at one time you were able to clear a notification from the lock screen, and the Messages app would stop showing that there was a new message. I remember being irritated when they changed it. But I think this is the way they want it to work now, and not a bug.

Hi Singer girl, this is the opposite to what most people have complained about. You can solve this by going into settings, Voiceover, Verbosity and in there system notifications. under banners and badges set to say just haptic or do nothing. This will sort it. The haptic is useful as it does tell you a notification has come in and you can then either tap on the top left of the screen to have it read out or when you have finished what you are doing go into notification centre and read from there as normal. hth.
