How can I reliably–and quickly skip Youtube ads in Safari?

Hi guys,

Focus keeps jumping around when I try to skip ads quickly. How do I get around this? I'll pay for Youtube premium if I see the need, but I'm wondering if there's an easy way to jump straight to the "skip ad" button. I tried setting a hotspot, and searching for the button isn't really that much faster.

Thanks in advance for sharing how you do this!

For me, I find the easiest way to jump to the "Skip ad" button is to click the "skip navigation" button which usually moves focus to the video player. Then, I press VO-Command-J to navigate by form control until I find the button; note that this button may not always be available or may only be available after a certain amount of time in the ad has elapsed.

Ad blockers like AdGuard for Safari are accessible and work well to stop YOuTube ads. I haven't seen a YOuTube ad in years. They're light weight and usually don't affect Safari or VoiceOver performance.

Tab past the search box and shift tab back and you'll hear sip add.

Works great. Just press the letter e on your keyboard when an ad starts. smile
