macOS and Mac Apps

Hi everyone hope you're doing well and staying safe thank you all for your help with my last post. My situation is this, I'm running VoiceOver on macOS Big Sur. I've been trying to stream to twitch with OBS, but OBS does not seem very accessible can anybody give me any pointers specifically regarding switching scenes and dealing with sources is there any accessibility guides for OBS out there specific to Mac OS X? Or is there any other accessible streaming software apart from OBS that I can use to stream to twitch both streaming myself live and playing video files over the stream? It would be really good to stream to twitch so if anybody has any advice or recommendations for solutions apart from OBS that would be great thank you for your help everyone stay blessed and stay safe :-)

I stream and use OBS. Unfortunately, there are no good ways around this that I know of. OBS is significantly more accessible through Windows, so if that's an option, I would go for that. As for OBS on Mac, you're going to need the help of a sighted person to set it up, and you're also going to need to move the cursor around to select scenes and toggle streaming. You could always try adding your voice to the people asking the dev for accessibility on Twitter. They're @OBSProject.

If anybody's got better suggestions than me, please drop them here so we can drop OBS for something more usable.

I stream and use Restream. Their Restream Studio is very accessible, and they even have the option to have chat read aloud automatically

Hi thanks for your recommendation, sorry for my late reply. What are the limitations of reastreams free plan please? Am I able to stream a pre-recorded video file over live twitch stream using it? thanks verry much :)

Hello. I suggest trying out Ecamm Live. I've been helping the developers improve the already great Voiceover support with the app. It allows you to go live on a variety of platforms, including Re-Stream. Here's the link so you can check it out.

There a guide for this program? It's nowhere near as egregious as OBS, but there's still a lot of unlabeled buttons and other wierdness.

Oh... sorry to hear. I also forgot to mention that I'm using the beta version, which has a lot of improvements. I can help with that if you want.
Here's the link to the app...

That did it. Works pretty well. I'm gonna give another go with OBS, see if I can figure out how to beat it into submission because uh... as accessible as Ecamm is, a subscription costs more than Amazon Prime

Hi guys, to those of you who played with Ecamm, I'm wondering if you can manually adjust the video aspect ratio and position it as you please when creating scenes? Or is this feature restricted to the use of the mouse? I've given up on cropping without assistance, but I do know how to compensate for additional content I want to share on the screen. Thanks in advance!

Edit: The multi-tasking feature on iPad can be relied upon to appropriately scale and resize your video if you share your screen. The parameters change based on whether you have two apps displayed in split screen mode or choose to expand or shrink an app in slide over view. You set this up depending on what you need to be in focus. It does not give me the granular control that I want, but it works and you still look good on camera, as well. The other half of your screen isn't embarrassingly partially covering part of your face, and the iPad doesn't try to crop or rescale for you. I would pay that subscription fee if you can have a similar experience using Ecamm.

Hello, gotta question here, just heard about this app and wanted to ask something. Is it possible to just record to disk? There are situations of which I don't wanna stream but I would love to be able to record a video and put it up later. Wondering for a project that I'll be working on.

Hello. Yes. With ECCAM you can record directly. Just set that in the pop-up menu where you choose the platform you wanna stream too. In that menu at the bottom it says record only.

Ah sounds good. I'll have to try this then.

Nice. Hope all goes well for you. Remember to use the beta version since currently it's the most accessible so far. You can also submit feedback via the website which I have been doing to help fix Voiceover related things. After you get a response from them in your email you can continue the conversation there.

thanks for your help everyone :-) right now I don't think i'll do any twitch streaming the app recommended here seems very expensive.

ECam has different plans. You don't have to go with the most expensive one.

Hi,
I haven't played around with ecamm much, but I added my youtube and twitch to ecamm destinations. Now that this is done, when I star ta stream, will it stream to both destinations?
Also, how do I start a live stream? Do I hit that "new" button at the bottom of the window?
I don't want to accidentally stream before I'm ready. so don't want to hit that button and find I'm suddenly live.
Thanks in advance!

I figured it out, actually.
My only other request for this app would be the option to save audio only recordings of my streams, rather than video. I tried sending feedback through the website, but I got some kind of error message and am not sure the feedback form was actually submitted.

Hi everyone. Happy New Year. Just thought I would pop on here and say ECcam is continuing to be accessible on Mac. The regular app as well as the beta version is accessible which is great.
