Hi everyone, hope you’re doing well and staying safe. I’m looking for an iOS app to help me navigate a large apartment complex. it would be useful if the app had a feature where you could mark certain locations around the complex for example swimming pool and then you could use the app to navigate them. Does such an app exist please? thank you for your help everyone and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Hi,
If your navigation needs are primarily indoor, you might consider Clew. I have found it a useful navigation aid when staying in multi-story Hotels, etc...
Hope this helps.

Try Microsoft Soundscape, it might be just what you need

Another alternative is the Navilens or Navilens Go app. They currenly work with venues to place colored codes (like QR codes) around a venue to tell the user where they are and give directions based on your phone's camera viewing the codes located at points of interest.

They also enable users to print their own code tags in various sizes for personal and/or home use. I'm guessing you can place these codes at strategic positions throughout the complex to help you navigate and tell what is around you. The app is free in the Apple app store if you want to try it out. The developer's web page is:
https://www.navilens.com/en/

If you want to hear more, go to the Eyes On Success web page at:
www.EyesOnSuccess.net
and enter 'Navilens" into the search field. The search will return summaries of several podcasts we did with the developer and some users along with links to the audio and show notes for those episodes.

hope that helps.

This is an app that allows you to get it started and record ware you have walked. You then can save and name it to tell you exactly how to get to that same place again. When this app first came out, it wouldn't work very well outside; but, I believe it has improved to include open space areas like you are needing now. We experienced it a lot in the VA hospital ware I worked with the blinded veterans. It was surprisingly pretty good.

You can save several roots to call up later and it now has a continuous beeping noise that lets you know that you are still on the correct path. If you veer off, the ticking will stop. Stop walking and point the camera left and right to find the ticking again to begin walking in that direction. There is a verbal announcement that lets you know which way to turn next.

I created a root from the master bedroom to the mail box and it worked wonderfully. I walked an extremely long way around just to see if it would take me the same way. Because it uses the camera, I was wondering if there would be issues with going in and out of the house and into the sun. It took me exactly the way I went which was about 200 feet out side. It is a little bit confusing with nameing an starting and stopping names for the rout; but, the instructions are pretty good. You will need to create a label for the start and finish of the rout so you can use it to get back to where you started.

I hope this helps.

Hi everyone thank you very much for your kind help first off I have a question about clew, must I have the camera exposed all the time and looking around me I couldn't say for example use this with my iPhone in my pocket could I? would I need to get a special case for this that means that I can use the camera whilst clipping my iphone to my trousers for example?
Secondly questions about soundscape, how would soundscape help me in this context please thank you very much for your kind help everyone.

If you choose Microsoft Soundscape, that won't be an issue. You can create markers on Soundscape, and turn on a beacon if you wish. Clew is pretty good, but I think Soundscape gives more options.

hi,
i would also sincerely recommend navi lens as mentioned above.
i use it for personal routes and also tagging objects as well as running ios shortcuts.
it is super fast and works very reliably

it's also free so you can try it without anything but printing out a few navi-lens codes

have fun and stay safe.
