Authentication application application error message on Mac

Every couple of minutes I receive an error message on my MacBook, that says authentication application application.

When looking at the error message with voice over the only detail I get is that user authentication is required. I can however not establish which app is requiring authentication.

Any idea how I can resolve this persistent error message? Running the latest version of Monterey, on a MacBook 2020.

Have you also tried googling it? Chances are besides my somewhat unhelpful comment, you'll probably find the answer. Have you tried pressing the ID button? Or have you installed anything new recently?

I've also been encountering this frequently since Monterrey was released. However, for me it typically only occurs when my Mac's screen is in the process of sleeping or waking. It can then take anything up to a minute to resolve itself.

My suspicion has been that this is related to the issue which frequently has VoiceOver announcing that an app is not responding, most often Safari for me.

Kinda frustrating bug 🤷‍♂️
