Hello,
I'm writing here regarding the accessibility of Quizlet.
I've tried using the ios app and website, with little to no success.
I've attempted to write to Quizlet support via email, and they don't seem to understand the issue.
I'm also a beta tester for them, and the accessibility gets worse with each release.
Can we all work together to change this disasterous mess?
Thanks,
Jessica

That's weird
That's weird... last time I used Quizlet, the app worked great with Voiceover... I used it about a few months ago...
I'm a member of the American Council of The blind.
I’m a member of the American Council of the blind. They’ve invited me to their resolutions committee meeting, so they can assist me in writing a resolution regarding this matter, since Quizlet acts like I don’t know what I’m talking about, when I write to them via email.
The website is just as bad as the app, if not worse. The supposed upload button, which apparently is blue in color, is not seen by a screen reader.
Works with screen recognition
Hi,
If you have a device that supports screen recognition, you can use that to make the app accessible.
However, if you don't, then this app is still inaccessible.
What can we, as a community, do to get the developers to see the importance of making their app and website accessible, & to fix this, once and for all?
re: Quizlet accessibility
And what is in the subject?
What does this app do?
I am trying not to install all apps on my weak iphone se2020.
It is laying on the table.
I am trying not to touch this device.
Only for call.
Yeah I use iPad.
But i don't have updated my devices.
Cheers!
It’s a Flashcards app
Hi,
This application allows a user to create and study flashcards. You can study the sets you’ve made, as well as those of other users.
Oh god!
If it is just a flashcards app.
Then simpler to use flashcards deluxe.
A very accessible and the most quality app.
Not only as for me.
Cheers!
Quizlet
Hi--so I find this app to work, strangely, with voiceover off, specifically when working with the flash cards. If you open a set of flash cards and turn voiceover off, you can tap the middle of the screen and the definition will be read, tap it again to have the term read, swipe left if you "know" the term and right if you "don't know" the term (or I could have this backwards--regardless the result is that you move on to the next card). The cards are read aloud with Quizlet's own synthesized voice. This is accessibility in a twisted sense and doesn't quite give you all the information that you need. For example: the cards themselves aren't read aloud with VO so if I wanted to read it word by word I couldn't. Quite frustrating because the concept of quizlet is great and there are a lot of sets on here that are helpful.

Hi,
You’re absolutely right.
This is why I feel we, as a community, need to do something about it.
For you Skippy again for you.
I understand you maybe don't want to go to flash cards deluxe.
You don't want to remake the flash newly.
But read this:
https://orangeorapple.com/Flashcards/Quizlet.aspx
And go to the accessible flashcards deluxe.
Cheers!

Hi,
Why can’t we come together, as a community, and do something about it?
I feel like if we don’t, nothing will change. However, if we do, something might change.
Is there sense?
There is an accessible and the best flashcards deluxe in appstore.
So, does the community try to change unaccessibility of the app, if the community knows very well that there is an accessible variant in appstore?
Cheers!
Yes
Hi,
Yes, we should try to work together, to help Quizlet fix the accessibility of their application. I say this, because even though Flashcards deluxe integrates with Quizlet, you cannot download sets directly anymore. You have to use the Quizlet website, which has its own set of accessibility issues, that need fixing. Therefore, even doing that, is impossible, since the button to download a set, is not seen by a screen reader.
solution exists.
I have pointed out the solution.
But if you wish to make accessible your eeee flashcards app.
Then Wait for the community.
While i am using flashcards deluxe with the high acessibility.
And I will sleep. smile
Cheers!
I support you Skippy
I want full accessibility too. What do I need to do to get it?

Simply join to Skippy's command! smile
Get off here and do something about it
Accessibility is a personal variable way of life. someone works fine on an app another person rants and raves over how inaccessible that same app is. It might just be how comfortable with technology someone is. It might be that someone can know what's wrong but have trouble forming an explanation in a way that's crucial for accessibility improvement. This back and forth does nothing and if I were developing an app, though a large subsection of the community is on here, I would steer blear because of topics like this one which has degenerated into well, this. Yes, we all need to ask for accessibility help. But i have issues with large, we for the people type organizations harping on, the "community coming together' and other such epithets. Is either application accessible to some extent? According to one person, yes with their choice. Another person says using screen recognition makes the aforementioned app on their endangered ap list, at least partially accessible. Now for the original poster, what have you done to ask for help in terms of accessibility? By that I mean how did you explain voice over? If you simply linked to Apple's description that might not have worked. Has anyone thought outside the box on this topic? Have you ask for a zoom or similar visual platform to show in it's real life demonstration which problems you are having and why? Maybe by a visual explanation, a back and forth respectful conversation things can and have changed. However the let's get on the band wagon mentality I am not a large fan of. Bottom line, get the hell off here, and let's really figure this out. Being on here does little to improve accessibility, more to show the maturity level of so many. Yes, at times, I have dumbed down. Not apologetic, simply calling a spade a spade.
Interesting
Wow, I was using this app not too long ago and it worked fine. It's annoying that they are messing things up. I agree with everyone that is saying we should help to fix this problem.
To the person talking about flash cards deluxe, we respect your opinion, but no need to keep mentioning it over and over again.
End!
End! And be happy Skippy! msile

Hi,
I have a braille note touch plus, which runs android 8.1, and it works perfectly well on there. At least it did, the last time I checked it, which was a while ago.
I will check it again today, and report back.
I just find it really weird that it doesn’t work on the iPhone at all, but it will on other platforms.
